Hi guys, the car just failed on the passenger side upper link having vast amounts of play in it.

Ive just had a quick look for them on ebay and europarts (i know its not euro but it said on the back of their van any part for any car :D) and i cant find any basically.

All i can find is adjustable things at around £150 a pair.

Does anyone know where to get these from?

Thanks

Mark

I think its cheaper to buy adjustable ones than a single oem one :wack:

Ask Danny (trader) you might be able to get poly bushes?

I have a decent used upper link that you can have for £35 posted.

LOL... asking for my own car... I think it's been done... (not by me) and I need to replace the near side, cheapest way is with a part of a breaker but form a new parts point of view the ajustables are cheaper... (as Car.Mad already said) :)

so I'm still trying to find out how low makes the difference....

There's a Nissan bulletin about the amount of play that is allowed in the upper link for the MOT. Some play is acceptable. Otherwise the bushes are replaceable with Nismo ones from Nissan at St Helens or by importing from USA. I changed all 8 for I think about £160 but thats a few years back. Avoid the cheaper shiny adjustables - loads of pics of bent ones can be found.

Its not, I took it all apart today to get my head round the problem.

Looks like i can get individual bushes for the ends. can i?

Thank

I ,ve been told these have needle bearings in them , has anyone canabalised one to have a look cos mine are worn and i,m looking to replace them as well , sorry to hijack your thread bud

Just buy the adjustable ones and match the lengths together so they are the same length, like mentioned above you will spend loads more on oem parts. Whats the point?

And the question asked about how low till u need them, well its your choice depends how much ££ you have to spend on new tyres, A little drop wont make much of a difference. I ran 3degrees negative camber for a while and it ate up my tyres instantly but there was no sign of any understeer at all. You can tell pretty easily by the way the front tyres sit on the tarmac if they look pretty flush to the ground then your ok. When they start looking really cambered then its time.

I did take them all apart yesterday to see what needed attention ( i should have taken pictures really)

It was a rediculously small amount of play that he failed me for. There is a thick rod with a flange on it (technical term) that goes through a hard nylon looking bush. It had up and down movement.

I asked at nissan today how much they were, you cant buy individual bearing/bushes and you have to buy the whole arm at £219 each!!

Me and my dad put chemical metal down them to fill in any play/gaps. Put it all back together went for a test ride, no play atall.

Suck that mr mot man :D

I would have said it had less than 5mm play in it, was literally a little bop up and down, he said it was shot, hardly!

Its got no play in it now whatsoever, but if he even tries to fail it again ill appeal the mot, ill print out that info and take it along aswell.

Cheers willie
