After finding my plenum gasket was actually just silicone sealant, not to mention other really naff and totally unproffesional short cuts,( basically no gaskets/rubbers had been renewed when engine work was undertaken so have been gradually rectifying all this) i thought i`d delve deeper as i`ve been hearing a blow from drivers side area for a while.

So after a lot of cursing and help from a mate finally managed to get this blooming turbo pipe off as i could see there seemed to be a lack of gasket..what a suprise..silicone sealant..again!

What do you think i should say to the guy who owned the garage that carried out the work at the time and whom in my opinion is ultimately responsible for this poor standard of work, especially as they were well paid for all this.

Sadly for me but fortunate for many they are now out of business although he is a current member of this site.

Would love to see what he has to say!

Ah yes, i remember you getting in touch before.

Shocking isn`t it..wouldn`t be suprised if they`re not my turbos on there either at this rate.

Well if you take the nickname for our cars and a slang term for amphetamines you`ll figure it out.

that's just disgraceful, it's not as though gaskets cost the earth :(

I can remember when "jimmer" rebuilt my engine...... the words "shocking" and "w***er"

were but just a few words regarding the workmanship carried out previous to his magic.

Tell me about it! So far i`ve found the following swimming in sealant and/or not renewed;

All injector seals and o rings, rocker cover gaskets and half moons plenum gasket, turbo inlet gasket, turbo oil return gasket, balance bar o rings all pcv valves split and yep u guessed it covered in sealant..must have had shares in the stuff. You know what..i`m astounded the car still ran and actually made to the south of france and back, although i had done the valves by then lol!

Whilst I fully agree that bad garages, who rip of their customers, should be named, shamed and stamped out; we must be careful about what is said about whom on open forums.

And if any arrangement is made between 2 or more members for providing a service in exchange for money; that transaction is a private arrangement between the individuals concerned and nothing whatsoever to do with 300zx.co.uk.

If you have been wronged in such a way by an active member of the this club; whilst he/she is an active member, then you can report the incident to our TLO - Znut - by the usual means. However please note the aformentioned comment that the issue remains nothing to do with the club!

Although if an individual is continuing to offer their services (for money) to other club members on a regular basis with, let's say, less than satisfactory results; then The Committee would like to hear about it. We can (and will) then act regarding said member accordingly!

If anyone does have something they would like to say, please PM me or Znut (or e-mail me at richardsmith@300zx.co.uk). Otherwise please keep any personal mud slinging off the forums!

Thanks.

Well that`s why i asked for advice, I`ve lost too much money and time to people that have provided appalling service not to mention the emotional grief caused. We`re not talking a few quid when it comes to these things.

Personally, i`m not swinging mud...it`s silicone sealant baby..yeah.

I fully understand buddy!

You have indeed started a reasonable thread and certainly you are entitled to expect a reasonable response with some sound advice. It's just that sometimes threads can get out of hand through no fault of the original poster.

The moderators have to keep the forums running smoothly and fairly for the benefit of ALL users. So my advice: If you have been wronged by another member (whilst it may/may not fall outside the responsibility of 300zx.co.uk) please drop Znut or me a PM detailing the circumstances, dates etc. We'll do whatever we can to help!

I'm closing this thread now as I don't see any benefit to it remaining open.
