bubble effect paint on the bottom of the car any1 know whats its called or who sells it....

On the bumpers it's part of the moulding. On the wing, sill, door and sill return it's called Stonechip. Should be available from the normal paint suppliers. Colour wise it's just painted over with your body colour.

Personally I'd just get rid of the lot and have it as smooth as the rest of the car, looks sooooooo much better;cool2:

hahahaha, it does look sooooo much better smooth, I took funksi's advice, and as I was getting both bumpers sprayed, smoothed it off, massive improvement, cheers funkster...

From reading the title of the thread, I was going to say "that's called rust mate" lol

Mine are all smoothed as well.

lol@rust ... ive just spent the weekend welding to put the metal back into the car it definetly aint rust, nah im just a freak i do like the bubble effect

You're not the only one. There's quite a lot of "clever" design work to improve the look of the Zed, make it look lower and less lardy than it actually is. The charcoal strip on the front bumper for one, the long thin rear lights for another. I think the orange-peel texture below the detail line (another thing that breaks up the bulk of the car) is intended a) so it matters less if stones and road debris hit it and b) to de-emphasise the bottom section of the car.

ย

Think about it another way, if you make that part of the car as shiny and prominent as the upper section, then you're drawing attention to it - which is the opposite effect than if you're trying to disguise the bulk.

They put an astonishing amount of design resource into creating these Zeds and it's not just the engineering - they didn't skimp on the external design either.

Sorry Gio, but I don't agree! The 300ZX is a low slung car to start with, so what do you mean by 'bulk'. I certainly think that it's width makes it look even more so. Take the new 370Z it's taller than the 300ZX and is smoothed all over, so surely this blows your statement out of the water! ;)
