Hi everyone! Yesterday as I pulled away from a traffic light I`ve heard and felt a noise apparently from the rear of the car.

This noise happens only in first and sometimes second gear and feels like driving on stones.... Three maybe four times "knock knock, knock" and than everything normal...

Tomorrow I`m gonna have it checked but I was wondering if any of you guys could tell me what to look for.

One more thing...before that to happen I was driving the car quite hard but that`s not the first time....so I`m thinking that my problem could come from suspension, springs... Would that be possible?

Thank you.

Thank`s guys.

I will check tomorrow first thing in the morning.

Cheers

jack your car up and both sides, one at a time like, then give your wheel a wiggle, might be your wheel bearing. my n/s/r went the same last week. all of a sudden knocking noise, try it!

Went with my zed at a garage to have it checked the other day and the mechanics said that there is no problem with wheels and my knocking problem might be from rear diff...

I wish I knew what to buy....

I will explain again...maybe someone can help...When I pull off under hard acceleration and recently not so hard acceleration I can hear and feel under the car a noise and a knocking like driving on stones...

Can anyone tell me what I need to replace? If need be I will buy all the parts that can cause this problem.

Cheers

Does it do it every time you pull away? or just sometimes? Does it do it on smooth surfaces as well as broken ones?

Yes... Every time. And yes on smooth surfaces as well... I would take the car to professionals but there are none in the place I am...

Forgot to mention that when I had the car lifted the mechanic told me to put it in gears and accelerate in order to hear where from the noise was coming. So I did. And no noise at all... Only with the car on the ground can feel the knock.

Hope this helps someone to identify my problem....

Thank you guys!

My knocks like hell if you dont drive it properly but thats just down to having solid engine, diff and lightweight prop. Theres just no give in the drivechain so it has to knock somewhere :)

Hi

I had a knocking noise from the rear of my z when i first had it. Under strong advice i had several mechanics try to locate the problem, which included a total strip down of the whole assembly. In the end it was my exhaust, the arms that the last two rubber bushes are located ( on the passenger side ) were slightly bent ( for whatever reason ) and having the stiffened suspension fitted caused it to knock at the slightest dimp in the road surface or pulling off. The arms were re-aligned and a tie wrap was put around the center of the rubbers to stiffen them up a little. hope this helps as sometimes there is more money than sense floating about.
