Before i ring my 'mechanic'...

Does this sound like steering rack failure or could it be something else?

Was at Le Mans last week and the old girl has developed a whining noise which became louder when using the steering...

When parked up i also noticed a loss of fluid, (after using air conn) which was not coolant, and the noise became more noticable after that.

The steering is no prob on long straight roads, french and uk m'ways, but the steering tightens up on slow tighter corners, esp turning left.

:confused1:

Obviousley i'm not driving it right now i'm back in the uk... :whistling:

They are noisy when they are low on fluid, so check where the leak is coming from fix it and fill the bottle back up, but as the lads say it could be on its way out.

I have replied in your wanted thread as well m8. Before you buy a pump is it not better to check and make sure you dont have a leak, if the oil's low it will cause the pump to be noisey. Where abouts under the car is the fluid gathering. Below the crossmember where the lower links bolt onto, the pipes sit above this.

All the advice is sound but check first before buying parts you dont need amd save yourself some pennies.

Cheers
