Anyone ever 'baked' their calipers? Any ill effects?

Few too many coats of paint and it's not drying so was thinking to maybe bake them....temp/duration suggestions?

Featured Replies

What did you paint them with for them not to dry?? Washing up liquid?

Most caliper paints dry fairly quickly. to touch within 1-2 hours and totally hard within 6

painted with http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Savage-RED-Brake-Caliper-Paint-Kit-Front-Rear-CHEAP-/120448139764?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c0b44c1f4#ht_1412wt_911

Not me that painted them....but they are for me. Mate is having a few probs with them drying. I've not idea about this so thought I'd ask....as I've not seen the calipers either...

Holy shit, that's some expensive caliper paint. Wouldn't care but Savage do some decent stuff. Used their spray tint a few times.

I always use Hamerite direct to metal smooth for mine. works a treat :)

i just painted mine with some of that - not very impresed

spent a whole day sanding them to a buitiful smooth finish, sprayed on the "cleaning spray" my mistake - they could have called it "paint stripper", all the sanded paint went soft and lumpy.wipe exes cleaner off with cloth it said - now i have a soft sticky caliper with a chunk of cloth stuck to it.

once i'd prepared it again i painted them. i thought it was rather a big tin for claiming to be suitable for 4 calipers. the aplication is shite, the finish is shite, trying not to apply to much paint (cos i'd heared of your drying issue) i ended up with stripes of paint and no paint, the finish is bubly , almost like the paint is carbonated. its taken 4 coats to cover them so i cant see the previous colour and now i'm worried about it not drying

I tried proper caliper paint from Halfrauds and the same as Ian, absolutely shite.

Hammerite smooth or enamel paint all the way. If using enamel paint use an enamel primer first. I just did my exhaust rocker cover in silver and came out perfect.

Apparently this is the 4th coat. So far it looks good I'm told but this 4th coat might be one too many. Was hoping to have them fitted this weekend but giving it another week to see if they dry.

Tempting to stick them in the over but not sure if it's best for the calipers.....if anyone knows, please do share your wisdom!!
