im having problem with clutch, sometimes it gets stuck when pushed and only if i pump the clutch it frees up. dont think it needs a new one but as im new to owner not too sure. when it is stuck it doesnt go into gear easily. if its working normally the biting point is fairly low so it cant be clutch cable? any ideas??

your right it cant be the cable as there hydraulic, cheapest option is to change the flexi hose and the slave cylinder and see if the problem persists, if not then its gearbox off time and have a look, but TBH it sounds like a slave cylinder problem,

just to clarify why i said to change hose too,

 

ive seen (mainly on the mid - late ninties fords) the brake hoses being the problem with sticking brakes tons of time, Its because the hose itself breaks up insine (collapses) and is slow to release the fluid back up to the pot,

 

unfortunately some people just assume its a seized caliper and waste money changing that first,

 

Anyway hope you get the idea.

Unlikely to be collapsing flexi there is a lot more pressure pushing the fluid back from the clutch than you get from a caliper, you would need only a small amount of pressure in a calliper flexi to get break squeal, there is as much energy being pushed back against the slave cylinder as there was to push it out.

 

Would start with fluid level, check for signs of leaks at slave check clutch pedal is set right and then start looking for more serious problems.

 

If your having to pump it it sounds like air has entered the system some where, has it been working ok and just got worse or did it start all of a sudden ?

it started all of a sudden. but seems to be getting more regular. as i said though if i pump the pedal it goes back to original position. i could be the fluid so will check that but just a bit odd.

certainly sounds like you have an airlock in your system.possibly a leaking seal

your probably right but for the sake of 15 quid you can get a slave and hose together. better to rule it out i say,

 

but yeah its probably the slave leaking more than likley.
