There i was last night , cruising up the A1, i admit it, probably doing 80, when some small red car pulls out infront, so i take immediate evasive action and ...

a) Brake

b) crash into him

c) accelerate up to 100, pass him with a smug smile.

yep..c). Only then do i look up, FLASH, Sh1t, look at speedo, even bigger sh1t..

Its not me, i've been driving over 30 years, yes!! 30years, NO speeding tickets, i swear its the car, that bleeding turbo gauge just keeps looking at me, egging me on, daring me, its like a scene out of some Edgar Alan Poe book. (apologise to our younger viewers)

So its either my license is going to go, or the Zed... is there a ZA out there, "My name is Richard, and i own a ZED.."

I dont know what to do..i love the car, yet strangely hate it... what am i to do..i'm a wreck.

Help me

Please...

Yeah but it wouldn't go to instant ban like I thought over 100 was?

Like I said, over 100 is NOT an instant ban, it's a misconception that it is. A ban is advisory/recommended by the courts based on circumstance. It's not automatic and it's not instant. This is why you go to court to plead mitigation. If you have good grounds for mitigation, the courts may decide not to issue a ban. It's advisory that they do, but they can decide to exercise leniency if they feel that a ban would be disproportionate to the offence, for instance, if you were disabled, require you licence to fulfill your job (lob loss), other dependants.

If you're doing over 85 in a 60 or over 97 in a 70, then it's generally an automatic court summons...regardless of whether it was 100 or not.

Hi Guys, thanks for all your replies,

Got a letter from the Lincolnshire Police saying "i was nabbed by a Fixed Device doing 88mph in a 70mph limit on a Dual Carriageway "

Got to sign it and see what happens.

By The way, i have been driving for 30 years, and its only now when driving this beast, do i get done for speeding..

These cars need a Govt. health warning like"This car is a serious risk to your Driving License"

Hi Rich,

Just to clarify here.....

......you first posted about getting flashed on 26 June and today you talk about receiving the letter. Almost 1 month later - and there is the point!

The police have 2 weeks to issue the NIP; even with reasonable time in the post 4 weeks is too late. Check the date the NIP was issued (not the offence date) too - if it was ISSUED more than 2 weeks after the offence you can get it cancelled right away; as there is no need to prove postal delays etc.

I have done this 3 times for employees who have gotten caught in company cars and it has worked. Yes, you get a sarcy letter back saying you were still breaking the law and you are lucky etc etc but the final bit says something like "we reluctantly agree to cancel the penalty notice on this occasion!"

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

If Richard's stance doesn't work, that'll be 3 points and a £60 fine.

sell your seat to a smackhead with a licence who has no car and no future:wink:...going rate around here is a ton(££) for a scape goat and well worth the money imho

Top tip i'd go with that :)

Richard, unfortunately the NIP was issued on or abouts 31 july, it's me being late to getting around to things, BUT i will keep that one in mind.

as Si says 3 points and £60

cheers.

Rich

Good luck with the outcome, naughty boy!!!

Just as a comparison my mate got done for doing 63 in a 30! He got about £300 fine and 3 points, so not so bad
