is it the first warm day you've had down in kent or something?

No one ever has bonfires here. It's nice. My french doors at the back are open almost all the time now. :)

Bonfires in back gardens should be banned IMO, i cant stand the smell and in this day and age shouldn't really be necessary.

I think its 6pm, but thats when everyone wants to be in their garden, especially in the summer

I agree Graham.......

......luckily no-one here has them either. Just the occasional BBQ.....

isnt there a law stating that they cant burn anything untill after a certain time??

I thought so too Allan - but aren't there different rules for in towns/cities compared to villages/rural areas?? I don't know - never had the need to burn anything in the garden.....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

isnt there a law stating that they cant burn anything untill after a certain time??

i thought it was 9pm

sort of correct.

the law used to be that you could only have fires between 6pm and 6am.

But then it was turned around so that it had to be done during the day, as some noodle decided that it was worse for the enviroment and surrounding neighbours to have fires at night because fumes and smoke dissipate slower as they cling to the moist nightime air.

just had the same problem with one of our neighbours, burning mdf and fibre board in there fire pit.

contact your local council enviromental health is the section you want. They informed us there are no laws about it now, but if its causing you problems with smoke nuisance etc they can do something about it legally.
