Why isn't there this much hype when the Olympics is on? IMHO, far more skilled and dedicated people and much of a range of interesting sports here...why also is there never this hype over Rugby, which is a fun and exciting game played by real men...why isn't cricket given this much hype. The English cricket team is pretty good, yet far more TV is dedicated to what I consider a crap and hugely over hyped sport.

Well I may not follow the World Cup but I know there's another England game kicking off at 3pm next Wednesday......

I hear what you are saying fella but I disagree. With the football heritage we have and wealth of experience across the country. We should be living up to our own expectations and the worlds.

 

The truth is our players are not hungry anymore. They get paid stupendous amount of money which has gone to their heads. Leading to no focus or drive.....

 

We just dont want it enough!!

 

Example: Remember Rooney, Owen when they were pretty much undiscovered behind the scenes talent. And how they played?

 

I rest my case.

Unfortunatly Si football is the worlds number 1 sport. More people play it than any other. You can go anywhere in the world and people of all ages no the top 4 premier league teams in England. The other sports you mentioned do deserve more air time but against football it will never happen.

The game tonight was crap in some respects but I thought from the start Algeria played well, a lot better than they did in their first game. What about the Germans, won well against the aussies then got beat today. In my opinion the world cup has been utter crap so far, too much diving, too many over paid underachievers letting people down.

People will blame the coach, players will blame the formation, the fans etc.

 

reality is that there was a collective Choke on the pitch yesterday. There was no hussle, no pass & go.. no heart (other than frustration) on the England side.

 

I agree with a few of you and was thinking the same thing last night. Have experienced the same results in my company.

 

Over the years people renegotiate, renegotiate, renegotiate.. at every big result and even as a company/Team it feels right at the time... What you end up with, though, is a bunch of over-paid underperforming employees/atheletes. They still think they are better than they are; think the world/company owe them for past glory, put in only the mandatory minimum effort & blame everything else for their shortcomings etc. etc. OK.. maybe not 100% of them, but at least 80%.

 

I handed notice in on premises, changed the commission structure to include thresholds (effectively cutting pay by 10%) and gave everyone 3 month targets to hit or find another job :) before we move premises- emotionally it was hard to do, but the results are already showing.

 

Someone needs to figuer out a way to get equally if not more harsh with these players!

imo this is the problem with england the main "good" players that they have play very well for there clubs and this is because they have good players around them (mostly foreign) , that make this happen Gerrard, rooney, lampard etc have this at club level but in the england team the hustler of a player like beckham, hargreves, scoles (just to name the united ones lol) are not there and thats the problem everyone seems to be standing around thinking someones going to cross a good one in a minute, but i never comes and have no ideas how to break a team down. they also look like a bunch of guys that do not want to player together, i also think england are hyped way too much and when they play like this (which is quite often to be honest) everyone seems shocked

why doesnt capello change things though? ok he changed the goalkeeper, everyone keeps going on about the team that qualified ect, well they got swopped and changed and scored goals! this team is 2 games in with 1 goal and not a hope of scoring another! something up front aint working, good teams in the premiership know how to keep Rooney out of the game and waiting until the last 5-10 minutes of a game to bring off heskey is no good! time for another pair up front and give the captain band back were it belongs!

I dont think Terry deserves to be Captain, he didnt play any better than any of the others and nearly cost a goal with a slack passback, a good press conference doesnt justify him being captain, cant say who the leader is, Gerard was crap as well, hate seeing players (gerard) make a pass that doesnt come off then keep running like he is awaiting the return ball, then just stop and give up, not chase back.
