I have had car go through MOTs with the rear stripped out but I have always taken the rear belts out aswell.

if there is no rear seats and no rear belts i dont (think they will fail it) but not 100% sure

someone will know though

If there is no seats you cant use them so you dont need seatbelts in the back :) (How i passed an old mot with old car with broken rear seatbelt)

Door trims are fine unless sharp edges as hazardous (Could be wrong but is illegal on our race cars)

Yeah, an MOT is all about Safety. if you remove the rear seats then you don't need the belts for them. I always thought that a car could pass an MOT if the engine was about to die and running like a bag of crap, smokey turbos and everything but when i was talking to GeeDee, he seemed to think his would fail for the smokey turbos? That has nothing to do with vehicle safety though?

You should fly through. Mine did. all i had was one seat and a sterring wheel lol!!!

and a bag of dog discuits for the MOT testers guide dog

hi mate being a 2+2 i would of thought the belts need to be there ,but it does,nt say passengers have to be comfy lol so a bit of foam and material missing should ,nt make no odds just make sure all the belt bolts are tight and secure

You dont need the seats in & trims make no difference. If there are still seat belts there but no seat then you dont test them:

"If a belt is fitted, but there is no corresponding seat it is NOT considered to be a seat belt, for the purpose of this inspection."

You would only test the belts if a seat is installed for the test.

As long as the doors open both from the inside & outside there should be no problems - if you removed the interior door handle & there was no way of opening the door then this would fail.

HTH :)

the reason i thought mine would fail on the smoke is mine friends supra got failed for it his smoked alot worse than mine thou

Hmmmm, interesting as mine failed for having belts and no rear seat - was fine when I removed belts but tester stated that had to have seat and belts or no seat or belts, couldn't have one without the other!! Was my normal tester, I've used him for more years than I care to think about and although a couple of years back I wouldn't have thought it'll change.

Fingers crossed for you,

Cheers,

Steve

MOT testing can be confusing at times (I am an MOT tester) & often testers test to what they think are the correct regulations.

Seatbelt regulations are a real over complicated nightmare for the MOT tester!

The quote I gave was from the testers manual! One thing is for sure - no seat - not a reason for rejection!
