Moved my fusebox ...

Some people have put the box at the front of the n/s leg but on the inside , i,m fitting a FMIC which has twin air filters so it would be very difficult to get to it to change a fuse .

Having done away with the standard IC,s there was loads of room to the outside of the leg and an easily removable splash shield to gain access .

I had a look where the wiring goes through the inner wing and measured the hole , then the fuse box and realised that it might squeeze through , i needed to unclip the wiring from behind the wing which was off as i,ve got some welding to do but this can be done just by removing the slpash shields

I bent the bottom edge of the hole down a little just to give a little extra room , removed the top and bottom covers on the box also marked and removed the relays , then tried to get it through

and after a bit of juggling it went through !!!

zedrebuild135.jpgAll i,m gonna do now is mount it in a water proof box ( ahem .. tupperware ) with some packs of silica gell to stop any moisture build up .

The only wire i need to extend is the ABS one on the loom

That is fab, Excellent, my problems have just been answered, Thanks Manta and Boldy!!

What happens if you need to change a fuse :confused1:

I thought that, but after 8 years of owning my TT ive never even looked inside it!! or changed a fuse in there

I bet as soon as you move it you will. sods law :lol:

LOL, Yeh typical, in the pissing rain aswell :crying:

Once the wing is on as people have said what if you need to replace a fuse, where they are is easy access and these cars being difficult enough to work on without hiding things away, I cant see the benefit of moving the fusebox, but everyone to their own, potentially you could have a major strip down to access the fusebox, removing wheels to get in.

Sorry but for me 100% dont see the point in this, I would have thought a nice polished fuse cover in the engine bay would look better bus as I said this is my unimportant opinion and everyone to their own, practically hiding something like this potentially makes fault finding more difficult in the event of a problem and lets be honest nothing nowadays is 100% reliable.

Cheers John

and a dog sniffing your arse

With blood dripping down your face, coz you cut it on the wheel arch and burnt your fingers on the brake discs :tooth:

You just have to take a couple of screws out and move the section of splash shield that,s fastened to the bumper as it,s a seperate section :thumbup1:. HTH

looks great mate well done. Think I'll be doing this to mine over winter! :)
