let me know your thoughts, main thing in a phone for me is the camera, would like to hear the arguments for each phone

If the main thing for you in a phone is the camera, then forget about the i phone and buy the SE. The iPhone has a very basic camera.

 

But as far as Phone Vs Phone goes (and I am biased) the iPhone dominates everything.

As Sir Charles says really buddy, life is a little better with an iPhone in it haha

I agree, the camera is fine for quick snaps & outdoor pics in natural lighting come out fine for a phone camera, poor lighting conditions make for poor pictures however!

 

The new iphone 4G is supposed to be out any time & will hopefully add a better camera with flash.

 

The rest of the phone as said is superb!

if the camera is the main thing for a fone then the iphone aint for u the camera is the only thing that lets the fone down u can get apps for camera flash and to increase the megapixel and video etc, apart from that i cant see another fone beating it the appz just make it the best thing on the market i have skype on mine and fone every1 for free if im out and about i find a bt shop and use there wifi or any1 elses that u can log on to, the mrs got hers a few weeks ago she only had her previous fone a month till she realised it wasnt as good as the iphone.

Iphone FTW. Unless you want it for the Camera.

Are you excited about the fourth revision of the iPhone likely to be announced by Steve Jobs next week at WWDC? We are. The iPhone 4 rumors started with a bathroom iPhone 4g back in April. Who knew that would blow up and become widely known as a real prototype when Gawker Media bought it and disassembled it. Since then the rumors have been relentless. 5MP camera by LG capable of HD video capture? If the first 4th gen iPhone wasn't convincing enough another one showed up... these prototypes seem to be everywhere! The rumors continued with possible Facebook integration, 10 million CDMA iPhones ordered, and the 4th gen iPhone coming to Sprint. Two 4th gen iPhones showing up in the wild weren't enough because pictures of a white one evenutally appeared, and appeared again, and then appeared again. And still we have had more rumors! Google Latitude might be working on the 4th gen, the iPhone's screen will have an awesome amount of pixels, and if people don't like the 4th gen design there might be an upgraded iPhone 3GS available for purchase. When is the 4th gen going on sale? Probably sometime this month.

 

So, the camera looks like it's going to be upgraded inc the HD. When you own one of these phones you will use it for more than just a camera phone, it's the best phone I've ever owned and I can't wait for the 4G to be released in the UK :)

Have you considered the HTC Hero or Touch2?

I'm using their smaller bother the HTC Tattoo, software is very good (although I'm not too keen on touch software) and the camera is fantastic, in fact it's the best camera I've ever seen on a phone. The Hero uses the same operating system as the Tattoo, all be it a much better version and the Touch2 uses the Windows Mobile 6.5.

I have an iPhone, and I will say the battery is terrible. I have jailbroke it and it's all good apart from battery and as above camera. But I'm not a big phone freak I dread to think how fast the battery would go if constantly using it.

Wise decision! As for price it's prob going to cost around the £100 mark for new customers but £35 a month won't be a problem.

 

Sell your old mobile and raise some cash you won't be disappointed.

I reckon £149 for the phone and £45 a month for 24 months when it first comes out, for the entry level contract.

its a hack for the iphone i haven't done mine im not sure what the gain is as for the phones i love the iphone it ticks all the boxes and so easy to use but camera is on the low end for phones these days

The main thing for me was the Camera too. I always had a phone with a 5mp camera and was reluctant to stray from that. The iPhone however is fantastic in every way. Plus for the camera having less pixels, i was supprised just how good the quality actually is.

As said it's not the amount of pixels, it's the quality of the image capturing device. I've had the Nokia N95 8Gb with a 5Mp camera and it was OK, but nowhere near the quality that I used to have with my first 2Mp Fuji camera years ago!

But this little HTC I've got now only has a 3Mp camera built in and the quality is really top notch, in fact I'd say it's even better than my current 12Mp Fuji!!

I'd also recommend buying a phone with a memory card, and not built-in memory, after all if the phone goes wrong at least you can recover your files easily!!

4g has already been cracked mate :D - one of the guys who worked for apple put the 4g innards into a 3gs shell, the guy sold it to gizmondo - who ripped it appard and sold/gave it back to apple once they knew everything they needed to know :)

there is no chance of the new iphone being free on 35, from what i hear there will be a 16 and 32 gb version of the 4g, if this is the case like what charles said, expect to pay even on the 40 or 45 quid tariffs. x10 can be got pretty cheap now, you could prob get one on 25/30 quid per month.

All your files are backed up with i tunes. You can also back your itunes up via disc so if something goes wrong with your pc you've still got your itunes with all your files on backed up.

The jailbreak software hasn't been done yet because they haven't got the full details/software. All there running is the Beta software which is always run at your own risk.
