Afternoon all,

 

I have been contimplating today after much deliberating why zed's. Even though highly modified still have relatively poor 0-60 times on average?

 

Does anyone know, or heard of 0-60 times under 5 seconds at all?

 

And what were the mods done to achieve thes figures?

Thanks for all your help and comments lads. Baz, I haven't really thought about weight reduction before. However, I also haven't set my racelogic traction up. I don't know where I have put the software.

What would be the best way to reduce weight from the zed and give the best results?

 

Racelogic Trac ctrl? Bin that, get some good tyres on the back :tt2:

 

I have Falken FK452's and running slightly upped power (basic stage 1, boost jets, intake, chip, exhaust) and although it can break traction in 1st once the boost kicks in it's barely noticeable and my tyres are low on tread too. Seriously even in the wet I have never had a need for traction control - the 300 is exceptionally well set up to keep grip! If it goes it gets itself back in line very quickly, assuming you have good tyres. My 0-60 is very good, must be around the 5.0 sec mark there's a bit of a reduction in acceleration from there on but it's still impressive! Also given there's sod all weight loss you can do to the front of an already front-heavy car I don't know if I'd bother to be honest. Are you still running the T25's or a varient? T28's take a bit longer to spool.

dont forget the merc has a 5.5L AMG engine with alot of touque and big wide rear tyres

And don't forget the Z was designed in 1989 too. That's 21 years old now. Pretty good considering :) Compare it to what Merc was making back then :)

...the Merc actually has quite a lot LESS torque than Kashchristian's Z. Its a bit lighter though (than a LWB TT).

 

The Z 0-60 time is pretty respectable, but its not its strongest area. Weight and rear traction are the biggest issues.

 

Traction is an issue becuase Nissan introduced too much anti-squat into the rear suspension which limits weigth transfer on acceleration. Its mostly to do with the angle the lower arm sits at and is something Nissan fixed for other models in later years but remained unchanged on the Z.

 

Im looking at altering the anti-squat for my slicky.
