they say the world cup will be in hd and also itv2 has a hd channel coming out, my boss seems to think if you have a new hd freeview tv that you will get it for free, ive told him he is a tool and you will have to pay for the hd channels even if you have a new hd freeview tvam i right or is he

sorry bud he`s correct..freeview is exactly that..free,including hd.

Yep free HD. I picked up my new telly on monday :dance:

My understanding is that HD is only available on freeSAT (for free).

 

HD via an aerial is not available until 2012.

No Hd free view is switched on down here this month :)

the picture is so much clearer in hd...watch the footy in hd,,then turn over to sd....i was shocked by the difference......and cricket in hd,,,watching the rotating ball,,,and as for porn,,,well...

A new tv purchased with a built in tuner are mailny all the (dvb) signal this is different to freeview and will not be in hd or have any hd channels, a hd tv or hd ready tv with built in freeview(hd) not normal freeview will be ok as would a new freeview hd box linked to a hd or hd ready tv

 

bbc do broadcast in 720 anyway so picture should be crisp on a lcd or plasma

 

eg: i have a full hd tv with a built in tuner however it is the dvb signal so no hd channels as above, if i wanted a hd picture i would have to buy the freeview (hd) box then you would pick up (x) amount of hd channels on there (not many to my memory) but it's a recent thing so should improve with time

I've got it on Freesat now, both BBC HD and ITV HD. Lovely picture, but on a 32" it's not a problem anyway, you'll notice the differance on 40" and above.

Anyway I'm going down the pub to watch the matches I can, or it's the 19" PC screen here at work :D

good point i forgot about the hd one's on freesat! ...and clear choice there then lol, have a pint for me :D

Is it just me or is the BBC HD picture generally crap? Ashes to Ashes looked as though it was upscaled (badly!)

Won't be long til Sky have to give free HD channels. Can't wait :)
