I've had many automatic cars and many of them have had 'sports' mode on the gearbox.

What I could do with knowing is what the difference between 'Hold' and 'Power' is.

I have assumed that 'Power' is effectively the sports mode as it engages at kickdown/full throttle but in the absence of an owners manual I can't figure out 'Hold'.

Thanks in advance.

S means standard, power gives you higher revs before gear change and hold holds it in a gear. I find best performance is O/D off with power on.

dont keep hold on, if i'm not mistaken its only meant for icy/snow conditions for the car to start in 2nd gear.

Yes thats right. Hold does what it says on the tin LOL It slows the box down as said above

Thanks guys.

That's kind'a what I thought tbh but I just wanted it confirmed.

I agree with the OD point. Actually, when pottering around town I usually switch it off as it tends to be a little undecisive as to what gear it wants to be in. My Supra was the same.
