Hi, Ive just spent a small fortune on getting my 1st Z on the road. Its an 1989 import t-turbo Auto. It has just been mot'd, had a Major service- at the mot centre, then it went straight to a local garage (less then 1 mile away from the mot centre) and had New :- Cam belt, tensioner + idlers, water pump, Gates Aux belts x3, + SFS coolant hoses fitted.

I thought everything had gone well........... after only 14 Kmtrs, I thought I would try the sports mode on the A/T, and when I pulled away from the lights, the car had just started to boost, when.... splutter, cough, splutter, then it cut out. I left it for a few mins and tried starting it again, it started fine + idled ok, but as soon as i pulled away, it spluttered and died again, this time it would not start again. The recovery guy said it sounds like its turning over rather quikly, ie no comp in the engine.

Any help/advice is welcome, please somebody help!!! I've waited 6 months to drive my Z and after spending over £1k I was hoping it would last a lot more then 14Kmtrs,,,

Quite remarkable that two very similar and rare cars live in such close proximity!

Sorry for the threadjack!!

I don't think Dave Owns that car anymore so it could very well be the same one :)

Quick update, Havnt been for a drive. But fired up the beast, and it revs fine, all the way threw the rev range when in neutral + engine is cold. When it gets warm it starts to sound like x amount of cylinders are not firing. Does this eliminate a faulty MAF?

Also the car stinks of fuel when 1st started+ idles high as if the auto choke is on- even thow its very hot outside today. From the comments that ive had I was starting to think its both the MAF+PTU,,, now im not so sure.

It sounded amazing/imense at higher rpms :)

Correct Stu, i sold it in 1993 to fund the 1st house i brought:cursing:

Loved this car spent 10K+ in the late 80,s inc turbo charging it:devil:

The picture of the other car posted was a 240z mine was an early 260z 2str

I wish i had more pictures this was taken on the day i sold it, 2 weeks later the guy blew it up (no boost controllers then as such just a little black box called micro dynamics box that by memory retarded the ignition)

The car was not ran in due to me not having time to use it and he turned up the dial and "BANG" 2 years later it was scrapped:crying:

Oh the memories:wub:

Dave
