How would i find out if the car was a uk z or an import if i dont have tax book

Uk zed will have seat belts on the B pillar and not on the door, although newer series imports have them there aswell. The uk has headlight washers, rear fog light in the bumper, clock in MPH, no front fogs. Have a look in the faq section for the variants/model differences

Visually the UK has rear fog lights built into the bumper, jap either none or a wee small one below.

EARLY UK zeds had front seat belts on the pillars, jap on the door.

Front side lights on a UK are on front of bumper with indicator attached and a smoked blank on corner of bumper, jap side lights on corner of bumper.

Speedo in KM UK in mph

smithy

Not forgetting the Nissan logo rather than the Z logo on the headlight pannel.

Alas though all of those can be interchanged! As I'm running (read not actually running :( ) with a UK modified rear bumper. Badges can be removed, lights can be changed as can clocks etc so there is no real way to confirm one way or the other.

The only way to tell for certain is from the chassis number, where a JSpec one will not be recognised by FAST!

No twin turbo's where made in the uk so if its a TT its an import

well according to keighley nissan when i tried ordering some hoses from them

if its a N/A Engine like dave said get the chassis number and ring nissan parts dept they will tell you for free if its uk or import

:D

they've got it the wrong way round bud (then again most nissan dealers know fook all about the 300zx)... n/a was import only and was not available for the ukdm. the uk only had the lwb tt available, see comments below for differences.

No - all UK cars were Twin Turbo 2+2. If a car is a N/A it is an import

Joely P beat me to it

lol tell me about nissan knowing nothing took them 2 days to know which hoses i wanted

i gave them enough info too

i just hope when i pick them up tomorrow they are right so im back on the road again :P

Exactly what he said.....

.....although technically all 300zxs are imports since none were ever built at Nissan's Sunderland factory - they were all made in Japan:tongue_smilie:

But of course some were made specifically for the UK market and the only true way to identify a UK spec car is by the 17 character VIN number. J-spec cars have a shorter VIN number..... Check the V5 document and the VIN plate under the bonnet.

Richard:cool2:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

and for service work avoid Nissan unless the mechanic approaches and says nice jdm z32

haha, i can top that...

i took my Zed with me to a Nissan/renault garage in Bolton only needed a few minor parts, he couldn't find it on the computer, so he came out side to have a look and take the chassis number and asked me.... " ... is it a Renault..." :death: the worst part was he was serious,

and then later that day someone at a petrol station asked if it was a vauxhall...

so yeah i agree avoid dealerships....
