I've removed my radiator to ease the access to my power steering pump.

I'll be in a position to refit my radiator sometime this weekend so i'm wondering what kind of coolant i should be using?

I've read on previous posts about a 90% coolant - 10% water mix but should i go to Nissan and get their recommended stuff or will any old coolant from a local motor factors do the job?

50/50 mate either red or blue is fine red has a longer life but the blue is cheaper

nice one. Youre about the 50/50 part though?

I read on here about the 90/10.

I have just got the large anti freeze coolant bottle from halfords, its red. get 5litres of coolant, mixed it 50/50 so 10litres is not bad.

fill up at both, tho i use the rad top monitor the level.

I went the whole hog and filled it up with the recommended stuff (z32's)from my local factors. Ideally you should also fill with de-ionised water rather than tap water to help prevent corrosion.

i use halfords premixed 50/50 stuff. IIRC there was mention that you should never fill up at the overflow bottle though, only straight into the top of the rad.

blue antifreeze 3 year life and red 5 year life Which is more of a guide if coolant gose merky or looks tarnished (rusty) time to change if specific gravity is low but clean just brop some out and top up with neat to bring strenth back up it should always be 50/50 mix which protects to about -35/-40 degrees (if i remember what my tester says) and acts as a summer coolant (desperses heat better than just water) plus prevents corrosion of system all year round (corrosion is the invisable killer) to much coolant can damage the system

I was told that the two different types i.e. red (pink) and blue don't mix and you need to flush the whole system if changing type. Don't know if it's true or not.

Hi Mikey,

The Nissan ready mixed is obvoiusly a good choice and not too expensive either.

Halford also do a ready mixed formula; otherwise any decent brand (non-alcohol based) will do.
