Some yesterday mentioned to me to use slick 50 for the gearbox. Is this the proper stuff to use or dosent it matter?

slick 50 isn´t really the oil, it´s an additive that puts a ptfc ( teflon ) coating on the working parts, I used it in the engine of a Jeep I once had and it really worked well I have to say.....not sure I´d use it on the Z though...why though I don´t know.

no problems no doubt just putting car back together and thought should i use standerd stuff or something else that was recomended?i have uk tt man with short shift and now doubt will be given it large sometimes.

DON'T DO IT!!!

 

Additives such as Slick 50; STP etc etc will most likely cause more long term harm than good!

 

Any decent oil (be it engine, gearbox or otherwise) will contain all the necessary ingredients required for the job; without the need for additives!!
