Hi All,

It's been many months since I posted on the forum ..........sorry :blushing:

With the help, guidance, encouragement and MIG welder of Ossian I/We have de-rusted and replaced the inner and outer right hand sill sections, inner and outer RH wheelarch and inner and outer RH lower quarter panel.

Now to the left hand side of the Zed and I need to remove the fuel tank and filler neck, in order to cut out and replace the rusty sections of the quarter panel. It's too close to the tank and neck to weld with the tank in place, so, what's the procedure for removing the fuel tank and neck?

Thanks - Andy

undo the small inspection cover under the spare wheel, will give access to the top of the fuel pump. Remove all hoses and plugs from there, undo filler neck from tank, undo rearmost tank strap bolts and the tank will slide down and out.

Take the wheel arch splash guard away and you can get to the filler neck, there is a plate in the spare wheel well to access fuel pipes and wiring and behind the bumper you should find two bolts for the tank straps. Think that's all.

Sorry Paul, your post filled in some gaps I left out LOL :p

If I remember correctly there isn't a great deal of room so you may need to take off the filler neck before dropping the tank, its a bit fiddly but only 6 bolts onto the side of the tank.

The fuel tank is now out of the Zed, came out with no problems other than a tight breather hose. Thanks for the advice guys

I'm now in need of a fuel filler neck (posted my requirement in the wanted section) and some serious plating around the same area - see attached photo.
