Hi everyone,

 

long story short, went to zedworld today for a check up. found some good things and some bad.

 

i have a boost leak which involves taking of the engine loom and looking into the gaskets (£300) job from zedworld. but i found out my ECU is chipped to 400bhp and my exhaust system is worth a lot of moneyso could be worse (and i got a free sandwich!), i just cant access that power with this damn boost leak!

 

so basically if anyone is near manchester with some mechanical knowledge that reckons they could have a go at it, id pay you! any takers? as you can tell, i do not know much but i am learning!

I have a boost leak detector somewhere. If you find out exactly where it is I can give you a lift m8

thanks a lot guys, YTS Weazel i have sent you an email. Zedworld detected where the boost leak was using a compressor but it was under the plenum which involved the whole loom to come off etc hence the £300, plus i would have to buy at least one new gasket if its leaking (i think!).

 

paulbrem, that would be great thanks, not 100% sure where the leak is coming from though, its in the centre of the engine bay. It originally had 4 leaks, but jeff fixed the easy ones on the outer pipes.

ah in that case u need to remove plenum!! hmm bet yours hasnt had a bypass so it would be a pain to do with no 300zx knowledge! the gasket is only £11 from nissan,..i'll call u tomorrow

I've removed an engine but not a plenium.

it has had a bypass according to zedworld if this helps?

give phil at blackwells a ring hes done plenty of z's on here i know hes moved to blackwells but ive seen a couple there and he does all my supra work

If Zedworld have quoted 300 bucks for a job that they have done numerous times before and we don't know exactly what it is, then even going to Phils is gonna be something close or possibly even more and of course he'll have to do his own tests to see whats wrong first.

Distinct advantage is of course distance, but it's still a costly job!

have to agree with smithy here, i dont hold out much hope for a cheaper price but you never no!

 

im actually at university at manchester, and live down in portsmouth so i switch between the two!
