...I've done all the easiest pieces (glovebox, panels around centre console and lid), just got doors, forward panels and rear panels to do. I've struggled enough with the smaller pieces, mainly trying to get the :censored:ing corners right and Ive just taken a look at the next piece Ive got to do and thought sod it there's no way I'm gonna get that right :hammer: I just don't have the eye or the patience to do this sort of thing.

 

who do you reckon I could take the remaining plastic panels and material to and just tell them to stick it all together right - something like a small craft shop?

 

PS. finally got my handbrake gaitor done though - the old warn piece of sht is in the bin and its got a sexy new one

THe rear panels are near impossible to get right. Ive tried twice and still not really happy with them. but they will do for now :sad:

I've just Googled and there's a place literally one minute's drive from me that does car interiors. I've got a couple of days off this week so I'll pop up there and see what they have to say.

I've just Googled and there's a place literally one minute's drive from me that does car interiors. I've got a couple of days off this week so I'll pop up there and see what they have to say.

lol, would of said you could of popped in for a cuppa, but iv been bed ridden for 3 days now with food poisoning and its now starting to pee me off, got a turbo swap attempt and other things i need to get done, and cant venture more than 10 feet from the nearest loo or seat.

Dave I feel for you bud, I know what a real pain in the ass it can be. I've done mine twice over now (passenger door three times ;) ) I actually found that the PVC was a lot easier to stretch round the curves than the leather is. The front doors aren't too bad to do, the rear quarters are a pain as said above. I take it you have come up to the forward center console sides?... They aren't too bad, in fact I think you've already done the worst ones mate! Either way what you've already done looks very good from the pic, I'm also liking the blue :cool2:

Quite simple matey, just took it into my trim shop, came back approx 2hrs later, and jobs a good'un!!! lol.

 

 

Apparently, the guys told me it was a biatch. 3M contact adhesive, 2 coats both sides and plenty of stretching, pulling, combing, and pushing into the correct direction.

 

BTW...............not leather, it is ultra leather. (plastic IOW)

Was gonna mention, I was looking into getting A RETRIM and also found a couple of places in Leicestercestershire that do it. Think one was car called classic car interiors, or somethin equally as obvious.

 

Given the fact i'm skint for the next month or so - ( suspension overhaul ) I hadnt even inquired how much a full retrim would be. I was thinking 1000's rather than 100's..

 

Let me know how you get on though, always good to support the local businesses, convenient too..

I had quote from Classic Car Interiors mate, £4,500,but that was everything including the t-bar, but not the dash, that was extra, mind you the quality of their work is fantastic and they only use the best connely leathers, hope this helps lol

Artz - did you get any work done in the end, or did you walk away laughing like your NOS bottle had a leaky valve?

 

Whats the best comprimise then, for quality and finish vs price? Surely there must be a cheaper alternative with reasonable results. I would get a re-trim kit from Z centre and try myself, but to be honest, I know I'd end up paying someone else to do it.

 

Surprised a club member hasn't cornered the market with full interiors at a sensible price. Must be no end of members wanting to modernise their interiors?

well Ive got all the rest of the interior out - had to cut the wires to the aftermarket rear fogs switch that Jeff installed for me about 6 years ago, lol! I'll wire up a plug for that so I can simply plug/unplug it at will. doors weren't too bad to get out, but I just know theyre going to be a devil to get back in :( I'm going to have my lunch then ring round a few local places to see who can trim the panels

ok I'm visiting a couple of places tomorrow morning - hopefully I can get a decent job done on the remaining 7 panels. I just put my lower centre console back together with the new handbrake gaitor - quite chuffed with it!

 

You can see where I've ballsed up a couple of the corners - I just couldn't get them right :rant: and the material is a little loose along the top but TBH I wasn't looking for a concourse finish.

 

 

I'm doing mine at the moment just got the glovebox and doorcards and rear side panels to do.

I got some cheap leatherette from germany off ebay £4.50 a meter and is 1.44 meters wide.

Also I do agree its an arse of a job!

well i picked the panels up last Monday - the guys at Auto Trim Leicester did a splendid job (I got my money's worth put it that way!) - collected the Z from ZedWorld today after they did a few tweaks and I spent the afternoon putting it all back in. Got everything done except the doors and steering wheel panel (need to splice some wires up first) - looking good so far but the blue of the cards doesn't match the blue of the seats but I knew it never would. Still, that's another job nearly over and done with.

Ive still not done my rear quartes. Near impossible to form the leather around it.

 

So im reshaping it and putting a speaker in there :lol::lol:
