.......Fail, and give the symptoms of mine, which is ok while driving but get a resistance as soon as i turn right!!

If it's only when you turn right and not left. I would suggest that something is kinking the pipe work when you apply steering in that direction.

You may need to get the front on ramps again and from a straight wheel position get someone to apply right lock while you check under for any friction or trapped pipework.

Its on ramps at this present time mate trying to confirm where the blowing is coming from:sad:

I say only right.....its more notable on the right but there is a resistance also on the left.

No pipes kinked all nice and clear, the point about the servo is and been told i would be very unlucky if this happened:ohmy:, is that while removing/re-fitting engine i was turning the steering by grabbing hold of the discs to the left and to the right whilst led on my back to get more clearance and it started to pass fluid!.

Cannot see any other reason for the problem.

At least if the engine has to come back out it wont be a terrible ordeal to replace/repair rack

Could it not be air in the pipes when u had the engine out last time and the ps needing bled?

Cheers John

Been out driving tonight and it has resistance when turning left and right!

Really un-nerving when trying to turn sharply, as i was finding out tonight.

And to top it all passed a static speed camera van and looked down to see i was going around 36mph, so have to wait now to see if they punish me for that:angry:

This may be my first points in 25 years of driving

So guys what do you reckon...replace it or what.............cannot believe the luck i am having with this car, may not be able to carry on as i haven't got the patience like i used to:no: and even the wife says i am different since YOU BROUGHT THAT CAR!

I really do feel sorry for you Dave

Just a run of bad look. just keep telling yourself i should of never sold the yellow one pmsl!!!!!

No seriously once you get it all sorted you will love it. keep your chin up :boat:

Trying to Dave but its hard at the moment!

Hope you are right as i have spent over 1k so far and done 173 miles in it!!

I know its an awesome car and soooooooo much power its unbelievable! but i cannot keep spending money on it! and my time.

Still i guess get another rack and all will be well, one thing though the blowing has nearly gone which is a bit weird .....good but weird.

are you sure you it's not electrical? As in is the Power steering working at all?

Does the HICAS light come on, is the speedo working normally?

Seems to be mate no hicas light on and speedo is ok, real strange problem

Just a quick question.

With the engine running, but with the car at a standstill, do you still get the problem turning left and right (in nuteral with handbrake on)?

If so, then it's more than likely the pump than the rack. you did connect the belt back up correctly right?

Hi Stu good afternoon, yes i noticed this before i got the car on 4 wheels, and thought it would be better when i drove it:blush:

Belt was fitted correctly by a mechanic mate of mine who lent a hand to get the engine in and onto box.

One thing i did notice last night and i am 95% but have been wrong before, the belt is on outer most part of crank pulley i am sure thats correct!

Dave

Remove the u/j that attatches to the steering rack, mark it where it meets the rack first though.sounds like it is seizing up.Mine did exactly the same.

hello mate,

i changed hicas rack on my car, and for a while afterwards steering kept going light to heavy [as i was turning steering wheel to go round a corner it would go heavy then light]

i pulled one of the plugs off the hicas ecu in passanger footwell and it stayed heavy left it about a day and its been fine since,

all i can think is it had air in it even though i bled it or where i put new fluid in it their was loads of little bubbles,

hope you get it sorted,
