I am going out to meet my girlfriends mum in Ohio at the end of July and she has paid for my ticket in dollars which i need to give back to her when i go out there.

So basically my question is this, who is good with a crystal ball???

I have to give her $1000 which at today's rate is roughly £650, obviously if the exchange rate goes better i could save myself some wonga, however if it goes the other way it'll cost me even more! So who wants to give me their educated opinion?

Obviously i don't expect anyone to actually KNOW this, but hearing some peoples thoughts and opinions would be nice :)

Cheers,

Isaac

Pay her now and if you would have saved, spend the money on a nice present for her mum. If you loose money steal a bottle of beer when you get there.

It costs to wire money so i'm just gonna take her the cash money when i go. Altho i might steal some beer regardless of whether i win or lose :D

sell the ticket now and you have 650 quid to spend on decent mods for ya car...

(not like all your mods so far which are crap!)

Nah i'm rather looking forward to going to the US again :D Whereas i'm sick of spending money on my vehhhhicle :p

besides... i could have got you a ticket cheaper than that!

Now you tell me!!! And exactly how much could you of got them for? I ask cos i wanna be as p1ssed off as possible that they've already been purchased

Its serious then?? once her mum meets you she will fook you off :whistling: ;)

Not all bad i'll just get with the mum :p

Ohio is famous for nothing. It's a very dull state. But it's ok.

TBH, you're better off waiting until all the hoohar with election is over. If you're wanting to buy US currency, the markets took a dive today due to the uncertainly of the British political system. I think sterling now trades around £1.45 to the $1.

I just brought over money from the US on Wednesday for a property purchase.

Wish I would have waited until Friday as I would have got £1000's more :(

anyway. Now is the time. As soon as the conservatives gain power to enact a massive need for austerity measures the global markets with start to get confidence that England isn't on a collision course with "greece scenario" let's say.

I'm expecting to see a graduall increase in the pound over the next year if Cameron looks as if he's in control of policy.

Anyway I think Friday was at least one of the prime days in the last decade to put dollars into pounds.

on a side note.. Although Barclays "claimed" a £6 fee to handle an international transfer they gave me a f ck ed up rate and tried to pocket £1,600 above the exchange rate ont the day !!!!!!! I ranted and raved all day yesterday... threatened to take them to Court, initiate a Fair Trade investigation etc.. they escalated it to managers and they gave back £1,300 of it. *******s.

Anyway... I paid £300 for Barclays to push a few buttons so that I could have my money.

oops... read it wrong way around.. you want to pay her! i.e. Turn Pounds into dollars.

Worst day in 10, 15 years.

I'd do it at the last possible moment... unless she starts to question "is this guy ever going to pay me?" in which case,,, better pay her a.s.a.p. and take the hit!
