Has anyone put mesh on the holes on an original bumper? Got any pics? Would it look pants or decent? Mine is off at the mo so can't picture it, just a thought of something to do....

Mesh is nasty hateful stuff. Personally would try to avoid using it at all cost. I have seen it done and it's not nice. It's the silver mesh that looks awful.

Black plastic mesh, not so bad. But it's not something that's needed or is nice or a stock bumper. 99 bumper comes with some sort of black mesh grille in the middle of it which looks ok.

I think some black plastic mesh looks ok on a standard bumper, like mine.

If your gonna do it spray it black first. I had it on mine and after a while it went a different colour and looks c**p. Just re did mine and sprayed it black and its a big improvement :)

I had to do it on my car as I had no where to put the numberplate :)

I sprayed mine black before putting it on but as the paint gets chipped it develops a mish mash of colour. I also don't like how chicken wire mesh gets dented quite badly....not sure what else to use though...

i think any decent mesh looks fine with an aftermarket bumper i.e. with a larger dam at the front. i was about to say it would look cack on a stock bumper but Alan's black mesh looks quite fetching

i think you just bond it on with a few dollops of fibre glass resin type stuff in about 10 places, with metal mesh you would bend it to shape, not sure about that with the plastic stuff tho? may not need to tho, think the gap is pretty flat anyways...

I used tywraps on the upper side, and lower side. You cannot see the upper one's, but you can see the lower one's. I will bond the lower face soon, but i just wanted to get my 300 back on the road after many weeks!!!

Al, can I just ask how big the hex's are in the mesh?

10mm X 25mm (at the longest point), this is the opening size.

20mm X 35mm this is the outside dimension of the hex.

HTH matey,

You can get stainless steel mesh in different paterns, looks good and doesnt rust !

I need to get some mesh to cover the gaping area in my front bumper where the number plate is. Anyone know somewhere that I can get some good mesh off the shelf or is it a internet order job?

Most motor factors should stock it, even halfords at the ripspeed section, failing that the net :)
