I betrayed you all for a minute :blushing:

I went to view a GTO with the bottom end knocking.

The car was dirt cheap, had a chat with the lads on the forum, they laughed at me, saying its worth £250 tops, and id spend about £2k fixing it.

So im back on solid ground and back on Zeds.

These arent as expensive as GTO's surely?

Err, yes, I'm affraid they can be!

Make no mistake, these cars are money pits. As long as you accept this and still want one then go for it, but don't expect keeping it to be cheap.

I have an excellent all round example, but my turbos have just started smoking and this is going to cost me big! Hey ho!

I knew a Zed wouldn't be a budget car, but i'm hoping they will be a more resilient engine and not need these overhauls very often :D

im always on a tight budget and my zed is by far from a "clean" example but as long as the engine or box dont blow up i can afford to keep it on the road..

i also have an fto,, now thats a good budget sports car! i thrash the hell out of it and nothing breaks (so far touch wood!!!) and it dosent use much petrol in comparison to the zed.

TO be honest the best approach ive always had is have the money available incase it breaks, 300zx's seem to have some sort of inbuilt function of monitoring your cash reserves... If you have the money to fix it then the are happy, as soon as you dont have the cash THEN they go wrong... Quite a clever technique for making people save! Problem is with anything quick is that its expensive to run, by nature its higher performance and so costs more to fix! Also if you are running on a budget then buying a cheap one isnt always a good idea, buy one that doesnt need the work and save your self the potential £1000's

i own a gto, and it is surely a money pit, when things go wrong, but if you buy a descent one your laughing.

get a good one and youll be happy.

Ok, whatever i get, make sure its got a string engine then :D, seems the other way with the little cars, hot hatches and stuff, small engines, small costs, big engines, big costs.
