I've just had a reply from the bloke selling and he's told me while running the boost sits happily at 7psi... on the buyers guide it says that means it stuck in safety mode and should sit at 9 psi.. is that a serious thing?

depends on what is causing it to go into safety mode.

Mine was in safety mode due to the fact that it had the wrong thermostat installed and the car was running too cold. (new thermostat and problem solved)

Ask the guy if it boosts all the way when pushed hard.

as above - link to ad would help us give you more accurate opinions.

Check all the usual - particularly rust especially if it has lived near the sea.

It's my car that is for sale, just to clear things up. on boost the gauge sits on or just above the middle on the plus gauge and on normal driving sit at 0. I trust that that is normal and hope you guys can confirm.

Hi Mike.....

....on full boost the stock UK guage should sit about 3/4 between the middle and the far right. Middle = 0 and far right = 14psi; half way between middle and max is 7psi (safety boost) so it should hit the next marker along.....

.....that's stock. On a cold morning; or with minor mods like air filter and exhaust, you should see it on (or slightly above) the 10psi.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Just been out on a run to check the boost & goes upto to the level marker between half and 14 so running correct boost.

Got to say not keen on looking and the gauges whilst travelling at speed.

Richard Thanks for your help on this one.
