Just watching Full Metal Jacket on tv and was thinking what the best ones are.

Saving Private Ryan is probably mine, but I love watching The thin red line, A bridge to far, and Apocalypse Now, ohhh and The great escape.

Battle of Britain is such a classic. Funny thing is if you ask most kids when the battle of britain was they would probably say 1066.

lol.. probably true. My dad knew the bloke who provided the planes for filming. iirc the Me109's and He111's were all spanish air force ones and were fitted with merlins.

does braveheart count? love that tune.

Really enjoy Black Hawk Down. Shows a different side to the usual war movie, i.e. things go tits up LOL. Hurt Locker is also pretty good I think.

Wish they would turn the book Chicken Hawk into a film, awesome read.

To Hell and Back - Never heard of it?

Watch it, its a true story and actually stars the person who's life it is about.

John Connor (Terminator movies) has got nothing on this guy, they dont make em like they used to.

kelly's hero's :D

to quote elsewhere... "KELLY'S HEROES" is one of the best movies ever made. Starring Clint Eastwood, Telly Savalas, Don Rickles, Donald Sutherland, Carroll O'Conner, Harry Dean Stanton, Gavin MacLeod, Stuart Margolin, Ross Elliott, and Jeff Morris it was directed by Brian G. Hutton and released in 1970.

Using vintage World War II equipment, machinery, locales, and dialogue "KELLY'S HEROES" features some of the most realistic battle sequences ever filmed. Many of the scenes in "SAVING PRIVATE RYAN" are reminiscent of this masterfully crafted movie. It's not only a war movie but also an anti-war movie with an interesting, exciting plot, and some of the best performances its stars have done in their careers.
