Fuel Tank replacement

After tracing a strong smell of fuel earlier it turns out the tank on my UK TT is rotten under one of the straps and its just dripping out! Is there a particular order I need to stick to when changing it, i.e. for fuel pressure etc? Can I undo the fuel pump from the boot then drop the tank, and fit the new tank up to the old pump? please help! :confused1:

When I took the one of my old jdm I took the fuel pump out via the boot panel (as you mentioned) then siphoned all the fuel out. The biggest problem I had was that the fuel filler pipe had rusted around the connections and was a right barsteward to get off.

Thanks for that Dave, surely once the pump is dealt with its just the four strap bolts and a few pipes to whip off?

basically yeah, its the fuel filler one that's a bugger to get off as its screwed on to the side of the tank. I also struggled with the strap bolts on the rear subframe as access to them is really restricted.

It's just awkward at times that's all mate, you'll still get it done pretty quickly :hammer:

Thanks matey  good job for a sunday!

This seems a common problem!

It happened to my red ZX last year; and only last month I had to get a new fuel tank for my blue Z.

Luckily JeffTT came to the rescue and did the whole "supply and fit" for £120 plus VAT. (Thanks Jeff!!)

Can't say fairer than that!!
