I was looking at an auction site in Japan last night as I was thinking that it would be fun to buy a late model Zed. I've imported over 10 before... but that was over 5 years ago.

Was I reading it wrong, or are prices pretty darn high? Rightfully so! ;)

especially on the 1998, 99 Specs etc.

What's the verdict? just cheaper, easier to find a good one over here?

Not many late model 300zeds on sale in this country this one in Pistonheads has dropped its price so hard to find buyers for late models so if you are going to import some you are buying for the Zed enthusiast so limited marked and especially hard in recession times. But having said all that bring the right car over and you could sell it in a week its a lottery mate

Well that answers that question! I didn't realise they were still carrying so much price.

i wasn't thinking about bringing it over for a sale.. more to drive for a year or two, at least.. Very sweet looking ride though. The seats look great.

That car is showing my number plate with a two digits swopped.

Mine's a midnight purple '99.

WTF?????

That is ****ing iffy.

That would suggest it was originally imported and registerd along with yours.

Says imported 2002, same as yours ?

I think mine was imported in 2001.

It's not a consecutive number - they're several hundred different from each other. It's the same but with two digits swopped.

Those plates look very photoshopped too.

I maybe thinking about selling my 97 midnight.

Go to you tube / widebody abflug and video of car.

My pictures need updating and recently had belts changes etc at zedworlf.

If you don't like the big spoiler take it off..

Only serious buyers need reply.

Also recently put cobra front seats in..

oh, right. Its just I see a lot of Z's (imports) with the same plate but 1 or 2 numbers different.

Ok, thanks, you're probably right then and it's all ok.

I can't think why they'd want to put a modified version of my plate on anyway.

lol @ the random placement of a for sale post!

LOL to you.

He said he was interested in a late import so I put mine down as a example for him to think about!!

Shame some people on this site put comments where they are not wanted.

Heya, I was actually thinking about importing one myself.

Maybe just for the thrill of showing up to the docks in Southampton after months of waiting in anticipation...

...only to find a car with no oil in it, or a completely burned out clutch, or a dead tire, or there was the one that blew a piston at Winchester services! ( I remember those particular cars all too well! )

But... As nice as they look - don't think I could do a late model now that I see the prices!

Suddenly it becomes a big investment versus a no brainer bringing a £3 - £4K Zed over to drive for a year or so before passing on.

---

so my question really was:

is it worth it with the current exchange rate?

Especially when there seem to be so many decent Zeds coming up in the UK at that same price range?
