Average of 35k back in 1990 is a lot of dosh, whats the equvalent of todays prices??

Current data is only available till 2008. In 2008, £35,000.00 from 1989 was worth:

£65,300.00 using the retail price index

£61,700.00 using the GDP deflator

£81,800.00 using the average earnings

£89,500.00 using the per capita GDP

£96,100.00 using the share of GDP

my uncle bought his house in 1990 for 30 grand, sold it last year for 450,000, i know its different with houses lol, but still makes you think!!!

Ive seen those prices before, in contrast my old M3 Evo was 40,500 in 1997 as an ex demo car with nearly 6k on the clock! Poor first owners, fleeced to within and inch of their lives! LOL

The 350z and 370z are far cheaper cars than the 300zx was. Different market, different class.

Agreed. We have only sold two 370Zs since ive been with Nissan. One was to a doctor - the other a hairdresser. No lies.

I asked before if anyone could scan an original receipt in as I wanted to see one for myself, but no-one did

I could probably dig some out from the 90s quite easily as we run the same POS program that was installed in 1995! Bound to be a few M-registered ones floating around on the system.

As Legrath said, the 300ZX was in a different league to the current zeds. IMO the modern equivalent of the 300ZX is the GT-R as both are/were the most advanced cars Nissan had produced at the time.

Prices varied per year. Have seen sales reciepts posted from low 30's right up to 38k

That's right - I think they started in the higher '30s but Nissan reduced the price towards the end of their UK sales run to below the £35k mark. At the launch of the Mk4 Supra in Oct 1993, the 300zx was listed in WhatCar magazine at £33,230. The Soop was £37,500, Mitsi 3000gt £38,329 and Porsche 968 came in at £36,722.

Considering the 300zx's equipment it represented very good value compared to the rivals - Porsche wanted a further £1932 for a/c; £492 for cruise; £1137 for a stereo and £2066 for leather. All of which were standard on the Japanses cars!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
