My starter motor is making some funny noise. as i know its about to die.

A few phone calls later, just to give an idea of the vast difference on price

Starter motor for a manual TT. Not refurb but a new OEM item.

Local car parts suplliers £231.75 + vat

Nissan direct £265. + vat.

Found a place online Hillmart alternators and starters £109.17 +vat (£4.95) delivery

This is not a refurbed one, but new, even has the same manuf (mitsubishi) and part number as the one i have.

Bargain.

Always worth getting some prices from a few places.

If anyone knows of cheaper place please let me know

Great find, this sort of info, should be on sort "sticky thread" of parts suppliers perhaps?

You might find that all thats going on is that it is coming loose! They do that! Then if you leave it too long one more start causes the motor flange to crack. Mine broke on one side. I used araldite and wire 5 years ago and re fitted it temporarily and bought another starter on Ebay for £25. My araldited flange one is still working fine till now.

There's a nut and a bolt that holds it on and one of them vanishes and the other loosens. Mine just sounded funny then an awful clunk was it breaking. Might have saved you 140 bucks here!

Quick update.

Luckily for me, i have just bought a very good 2nd hand starter from a local scrap yard. From a TT manual, one owner and only done 30k miles from new.

But got hit up the backside by a lorry.

It arrived today, and is fully working and clean.

£20......
