Hi All,

I've had a problem develop today. When the car is driving slowly or stationary it has started to stall. It's done it a few times today but it doersn't happen all the time? there is next to know rough idle just the occasional fluxuation. the revs wil then drop down to almost zero then stop.

Fitted an alarm yesterday so i disconnected all that as i don't believe in coincidence but it still did it so i ruled that out.

My first thought is an idle air control valve. Any thoughts and ideas appreciated.

Also, if it is the IAC valve, how much do these cost for Z's, where from and how easy to fit?

Cheers

Peter

Interested to know any possible answers, as mine does it on the odd occasion when slowing down for a junction.

maybe the car thinks the engine is getting too hot and over fueling.

therefore temp sensor might have a problem.

If you think it's the idle control valve, then take it off and clean it. These gum up and a good flush out with carb cleaner clears them. But remember to drop a few drips of oil down there.

If it's not this, then hook it up to ConZult and have a look at your TPS readings and see what voltage they are sat on. Maybe that which needs some adjustment.

Finally, look at your base idle and see what it's set to.

I would have thought boost leak?

will cracked pipes on the N/A not result in the same thing happening tho?

This was happening to my mrs car (not a zed) and I just removed the idle control valve and put it in a wee tupperware dish and emptied a whole can of wd40 in and left it sitting in it overnight, got up in the morning and it was all shiny like new, fitted it back in and its ran trouble free for a year since
