Just bought 300zx tt import auto. Got a mongoose stainless exhaust. blitz induction. what next for power increase.

Booked in for a full service and cam belt changed next week make sure the basic engines in good conditon cheers

Make sure everything is running well first. Make sure it's had a good and thorough service. Get it hooked up on Conzult to check all the sensors are working/set correctly. Make sure you have the cooler running NGK spark plugs. Then you can look at getting a replacement ECU chip with a better fueling map and then get yourself a boost controller.

When upgrading a car remember whats important.

1. It has to STOP! Brakes should always be primary upgrade (Zeds stocks are rubbish)

2. It should turn corners! Stock suspension is decent if all is well and working

 

3. POWER! Go nuts. Upping boost is a good and easy start but also remember reducing weight improves power, braking and handling... and costs nothing to take things out the car

the usual course for more power is intake, exhaust, chip, boost jets or electronic controller (once you know the car is in good nick). that'll give you approx. 360 bhp if you run 1mm boost jets or set your controller up to run 14.5psi.

once you get used to that then other 'relatively' straightforward mods are a straight-through decat pipe, lightweight single-piece prop, lightweight crank pulley, divorced down pipes from the turbos, and perhaps another cheeky psi to toe the line at 15psi. that should take you to about 380bhp. definately colder spark plugs at this point.

from there you hit your first expensive wall as (to do the job properly and be safe) you'll be looking at larger rad, larger intercoolers or large frontmount, larger injectors and larger or uprated turbos.
