where abouts should the oil pressure gauge read mine sits about 3 on the gauge most he time is this good.

My clock dosnt work wheres the fuse or is it another problem cheers

Do you mean the clock ie: (time) or one of your clocks as in rpm/speedo

Time clock is a comman fault and not related to the fuse, it's a resistor on the inside if the clock that goes, there is a link floating about on how to fix it, but I'll dig it out for you tomorrow. As for oil pressure i can't say I paid much attention to the stock one tbh

as above the clock is prone to the above fault however mine just stopped working despite attempting the fix, they can be picked up second hand for around 10/15 pounds though

 

As for the stock oil pressure gauge im afraid they are also not the best as for he reading mine sits at around 4 from cold but i've seen it as low as 2 when fully warmed

i have of course a stock oil pressure gauge and its useless, it moves first thing from cold and then once warm moves to rest, this is where it stays, until i start from cold again.

i am just in the process of fitting a stack gauge on the a pilaar but need the correct adapter for it, if anyone can help me here i will be grateful, i need a tapered fit adapter for the sender unit? i am also waiting for stack to get back to me on this, that is probably my best bet for this.

i believe once fitted it should read in bar 3.5.

oh and on the clock, i may well have a spare as i picked the one out of a scrapper on thursday, even though i didn't need it!!

Have you tried the likes of demon tweeks etc for the sender part you need, i know someone who can supply the sandwich plate by the way for the filter and probably the water pipe temp adapter

i will just see what comes back from stack first, they do supply some adapters in with the gauge from new but none fit the engine.

i did quickly look at demon tweeks website, but we shall see how things develop.

checked it and unfortunately there is no life in it at all - shame and sorry.

don't worry about being anal we are all the same and strive for as near perfection as we can get.

have a look on ebay for a clock, i am sure i have seen them.

The stock oil pressure gauge is just fine - why do people say they are rubbish?

The problem tends to be that the sender unit breaks down when the engine is hot because the slider mechanism inside it moves to a well used+worn section and so the gauge reads very low. When cold the slider is in a much unused portion of the unit and so reads correctly.

My gauge read incorrectly when I first bought the car, but I have since fitted a new OEM sender unit and now the gauge reads perfectly and is quite responsive moving quickly under varying conditions. Costs around £85 for a genuine OEM replacement.

This sender failure is very common, but not because they are rubbish, but because most of them are 15-20 years old!

All good advise and correct it is the sender that is really the isssue, however i'd still prefer a aftermarket temp gauge to read engine temp, the stock one does leave it a little late to inform you of an overheat ive seen this twice on mine and that's with the sender changed :(
