Cleaned throttle bodies, IAA, set throttle at 0.44 all other readings on Datascan seem within reason. I cannot get the refs below 850, its a tt auto. when I remove the yellow connector the revs drop to 700, when replaced up they go again, any ideas please.

try unplugging the yellow connecter then lower the base idle screw down to about 650rpm & plug back in see what happens, clean conectors also check for air leaks!!

mine idles between 800-850? any lower and it would stall when put into gear i would of thought?

Good points, that would explain the readings then, it's just that the car tends to jump forward in traffic when pushed from neutral into drive. Are all autos like that ?

I am using the handbrake at the moment, not too good, yet another job for the summer. Take your point re. the footbrake, that should smooth things out a bit.

Cheers.

I know the last owner of my manual was concerned at the 'fast' idle, it was at just under 1000 at say 980 or so.

after reading your post I thought i would have another tinker.

nothing happens with the yellow connector connected, I can make it quicker but not slower. :headvswal

On your advice I removed it and then had another fiddle whilst running. Turned off and re connected. Fired up, fully warm and it settled at about 850rpm, went for a burn and all the time it settled back to the 850, much much better than the racing 980rpm!!!!!!!! :)

So I thank you
