just been looking through my files and i started work in september 1995 (officially lol), not bad considering michelle has had 6 jobs in the 9 years of me being with her, i havent got any great qaulifications and i hated school, but got this job when i was 15 but couldnt start officially till i was 16 and have never looked back, not a great paying job but i can honestly say i actually love my job and dont mind getting up early in the morn to go to work (although sometimes i would like to have a lie in lol), i have had only 5 days off on the sick due to sudden sickness (hangover) and have never ever been late and always start half hour early (7.30am instead of 8.00am)

i think that is quite an achievement, just thought i would share this with anyone who gives a shite lol

how many jobs you had or how long have you had your job???

had a couple of part time ones while funding myself through college

7 years is still an achievment in this day and age, my mate only lasts about a year in jobs, i dont know how he gets them

Good effort Allan.

I left school in June 2002 and started my Apprenticeship / Current Job in the August.

Been in the same job since and love it, most of the time!

2002, i thought you were older than that mate, its good to have a job you like

lol. Nope, still a young pup. 24 years young ;)

believe it or not but im 31 this year lol

i love my job as there is just me and the boss and we get on so well so not much arguing (till he is wrong and i a right lol)

7 years is my longest.

Great pay with all the fancy benefits - car, pension, healthcare ..etc , worked from home with regular trips to Europe........but I really grew to hate the job. No motivation and no enthusiasm for it.

I believe Job Satisfaction and Enjoyment are very important. The money and the benefits can be great but if you wake up every morning dreading another working day then you really need reconsider your options.

started work before i left school doing weekend work, then went part time going through college, then full time when i left college. Been in perm full time employment ever since (last 10 years), worked my way up the ladder and am now in a position where i could quite comfortably live from my salary for the rest of my life, and im only 27.

who says you need qualifications, i have never been asked once what i achieved in school or college when being interviewed or applying for diffrent positions, you dont need it if you are prepared to be patient and work your way up the ladder.

i sometimes feel that what i get is all i will get, there is no room to improve my wage and benefits and i get no extra from the boss, but i do love my job and like the person i work for (more of a mate than a boss) and have managed to live and save on the money i get sometimes money isnt everything, but it deffo helps

ok ile exclude myself from this post as a man with no job..self motavation and the ability to get up and get out for 6.30am and on the roof by 7.30am summer and winter and the added bonus of not being able to ring in sick and still be on pay:x::duffer::duffer::duffer:

re: qualifications. I agree, up to a point and depending on the job....

I left college and started work in I.T, the course itself taught me sweet f*ck-all, but the piece of paper got my foot in the door. I eventually ended up in a good positin at a large international organisation who would normally never even consider non university graduates. I used to look back at friends who had degree's and earning less than me and think how they had wasted those years....

...then I got made redundant from the job that I hated and needed a career change, but without any qualifications in other trades I'd have to stat all over again, at the bottom.

I eventually decided what I wanted to be was a Chartered engineer, in the Automotive or Motorsport Industry

Its impossible to be a "proper" engineer without a 4 year degree under your belt. There is no "starting at the bottom and working your way up" or apprenticeship route into this field, so at the grand age of 30 I have ended up at a University where Im doing a fulltime degree in Motorsport Engineering for the next 4-5 years.

pmsl, people never remember the things you do for them but never forget the things you didnt do for them

I spent 20 years in the missile design department at British Aerospace, mainly designing electronics etc., and got made redundant in 1990......what the feck do you do after that, it don't look good on yer CV and no on else does that sort of thing. I switch to manufacturing engineering, structural engineering and marine engineering on a self employed basis, never looked back. I should have left BAe earlier but when you have kids and a mortgage, you tend to stick with the security. I now do loads of work for the MoD, love it although the travelling to dockyards to climb over ships used to be a PIA, you get use to it. I am now well past my sell by date, but they just keep giving me work, ching ching.:cool3:

top job, would love that, i suppose when sadsam got hanged, freelance wark just dried up lol

Got my first job at 17, part time while at school and continued with it till I left uni in 1996. So 8 years ish with that one.

Moved on to a full time temp job with the civil service for 9 months while I tried to get my firsts engineering job.

First Job as an engineer lasted for 9 months, moved on when they went back on there word to look at the crap salery they were paying me. They actually seemed surprised when I moved for a 100% pay rise.

Next job lasted 18 months as a producton engineer at a semi-conductor plant, this was my favourit job so far, unfortunatly I could see the writing on the wall and moved on a few months before they announced the plant was closing.

Moved back to the first engineering company as they had never replaced me, this time I lasted 11 months and again moved because they went back on there word about something else.

Finally in 2000 moved to the company I am with as a Project Engineer then in 2004 was made up to a Project Manager. So come April this year it will be 10 years in the one place.
