Not heard of the s15 box being fitted and I doubt it would last very long its puny in comparison to the zed box, if you look about on the net you will find a few instances of the 350z 6 speed fitted to the 300

ive read of s15 boxes being weaker than the s14 box,but thats when given abuse drifting etc.

My slush box is knackered and I have the freshly built 6speed sat in my garage so I may aswell fit it as it wont cost me anything,Im an engineer to trade and have all the cutting and machining equipment/tools here,so its just afew nights here an there, if I lift the engine out for a trial run on the floor.I havnt put the two boxes side by side even so i dont know how awkward its going to be yet....

The 350z 6speed has a bad reputation too, but if your fitting to an NA then power capability is'nt going to be an issue.

But most 6speeds have a top gear ratio similar to that of the stock Z box, so you have no top speed or motorway cruising advantage...instead you just more gear changes to make - most likely resulting in a slower car overall.

I would really sell the s15 box which should get you enough to buy another standard manual, its a design fault on one of the internal retaining clips that makes the box prone to break, if you do a bit of googling it may be worth doing if your intent on doing it, not sure what your fly wheel set up will be as the s15 used a dual mass setup and the zed starter bolts to the side of the gearbox, I'm sure it can be done.

The conversion kits to do the swap the other way round are expensive, simple way would be to cut and weld the bell housings together giving you a straight bolt up as long as you keep everything lined up and sort out the length for the input shaft it should not be too bad, you may be better off using bell housing from a manual zed.

I have been told the splines are the same for the s15 and z32boxes,so the clutch plate should fit,I was going to fit a cover from the z and plate from an s15..but as you said, the s15 has a dualmass flywheel, and is twice as thick as the standard z flywheel, therefore I dunno yet if the spigot shaft is long enough or too long.I will take some measurements and post them up 2moro,hopefully someone here can give the measurements if they have a manual box laying about,as I only have a dud autobox here for comparison.

Its the diameter of the spigot shaft I need, the end that goes into the crank, and the length of this from tip to the splines.

Also, using a straight edge, across the bellhousing, the distance between the face of the bellhousing to the tip of the spigot shaft.Hope that makes sense?:)
