gb is starting to suffer the ol knackered 4th sychro.

these gearboxs seem to be fairly reasonable on fleabay and i hear they are strong. Any ideas on what would need to be done to wedge one in a zed?

I know someone from Germany that has a T56 from a Viper fitted in his 300ZX , but I wouldn't bother unless you have some real serious power (torque) and your car is eating standard gearboxes for breakfast..

It's a lot of work like custom adapterplate, driveshaft and some other bits and pieces to make it work and in the end it will cost (a lot) more then a used/good standard gearbox or even an rebuild of your current transmission..

the low spec t56 can handle 850ft/lbs of torque before it starts struggling !

thats some serious power needed to break one :O

If you plan on upgrading your power levels, it might be a wise investment.

ive been looking at these boxes for my soarer project and they seem to do nicely

hmmn I 'only' have around 370 ft/lbs so I think a rebuilt oem would do the job.

I just thought a brand new Tremec for 600 baz was quite attractive if it wasnt too much of a ball ache to adapt.

Was hoping someone might say I could just gut the old box, throw the tremec bits in and top up with expanding foam. Never that ez tho is it :)

I've got a Tremek TKO500 fitted to my V8, factory tested to 500ft/lb torque

The 600 take 600ft/lb

The 600 is supposed to be slightly better from what i've heard. You could probably have an adapter plate cut out to change the bolting points on the bellhousing like John Dixon did with his V8 conversion.

Any good engineering firm should be able to help with that
