Arrrrrr S**T!

Looks like I've just knacked the Rover!!

Just driving to work and lost all drive in it! Managed to 'coast' into the next village and a lay-by, but now don't have any drive at all. Theres a wherring noise untill you put the clutch in, but nothing else.

Not best pleased as it looks/sounds expensive, which means that the money from the zed fund will have to be diverted 'AGAIN' to sorting my daily driver out :cursing: Every bloody time I have some money together to sort Eliza out something f***ing goes wrong :censored:

Gutted Dave. But ditch the rOver and get something decent. Any old banger. Better than ploughing money into a car that's worth practically nothing. Saves money for the Z.

Get an old Mondeo or Vectra from the auctions for a few hundred quid.

To be honest Si, I've had enough mate!

Every time I'm sorted some other 'presence' comes along and f***s things up for me. If someone came along and offered me a decent price for Eliza I'd sell her straight away complete with all the parts I've got to repair her, I really am that f****d off at the moment.

So if anyone else is reading this and wants a 'Fixer-Upper' complete with all the parts required, then just give me a shout!

no worrys it was more tounge in cheek than anything! ..so do u klnow whats up with the rover?

Not yet as I'm at work, but will be having the AA out to it later on..... Going to nick the works pool car in the meantime :D

gutted for ya dave :(

can't you get someone to throw in a second hand box for you if thats what it is? surely £150 maximum fitted?

The thing is the cost is starting to go up already, I've just had to join the AA so that I can have it recovered. I don't mind putting used parts in it, and there are some good guys over on the Rover 800 forum that know their stuff, so I've not a problem there, it's just that money is tight these days (as I'm sure it is for a lot of people) and soon we wont be having any more overtime here at work so that extra wont be available. So having to break into Eliza's money again will seriously delay having her back on the road, to such a degree that I don't think I'll ever get her back on the road, so I might as well let her go to a new home.

Got the AA out to it, he's checked it all over and it's looking like it could be the diff! :(

It's currently sat at a mechanics on the same business park that I work in, so it's close by and will be looked at properly on Monday.

Hmmmm I wonder how much that's going to cost me?

Oh Dear ... still a second hand diff must be easier and a lot cheaper than a second hand gear box so think positive !

Oh, can the weekend get any worse?!

Hmmmmm, let me see......... YES!

Looks like I'm no longer engaged now as well! (and that's also Zed related!)

The only saving grace was that I went out with my mates last night and got ratted!! Which did mean that I wasn't up to getting out of bed today and doing the turbo's like I was supposed to.... bugger! But at least I had a great night out.

Well it's finally been looked at and the parts are on the way.

The prognosis is......... The lefthand CV joint failed! Also the splined end of the drive shaft wasn't too good either, but he can't get hold of one of them, so he's 'fettled' it.

He's also sorting the lower ball joint on the righthand side steering as well, as the boot has split and it's dryed out (it's making a squeeking noise)

Total price will be £172 all in, so not too bad, but still money out of the Zed fund :( should be able to pick it up later this afternoon
