All my bits are somewhere in a 880lb huge crate "misplaced" somewhere in the UPS network . Apparantly 6 lots of goods ship as one load by air from the US. Only two bits of that load turned up without paperwork in heathrow so they cant tell me anything

Not sure if they are in the US, Europe, or somewhere at Heathrow. Or mine might be one of the two that made it to heathrow . They cant tell me as they cant get any paperwork as its with the rest of it or something.

OMFG my luck stinks, I am not a relegious man but will be saying a prayer tonight.

They dont seem that concerned but at the end of the day I have the cost of a new car misplaced somewhere across three countries as it goes to brussels first..

Should have been here on the 25th, I suppose it could be with customs somewhere?.

yes im sure you are right, I would not be so concerned if it just said on the tracking at Blah in customs or in brussels. The tracking details just stop when it left the US.

Being air freight how does it work, I assume that customs contact me to tell me I owe them some bunce then I pay that and collect it in a van from Heathrow?

I know they dont deliver it to my house or anything so I have to collect it from somewhere. I will have to hire a tail lift van and get it, do you pay the customs charges when you pick it up or before?.

why wouldnt the deliver it to your house?? when i got alloys from the states they took 4 days to get to heathrow from the day of ordering then took another 4 days to get through customs to my home address, but yes u will get a phone call from them to pay the duty, may i ask do you know if the seller put an invoice in with the items? did he break it down or give a grand totall as you only pay customs on the goods not the freight so its always a good idea to get the seller to doctor the invoice with the parcel/crate so it shows high postage but low cost for items if u get me?

My Parts took 2 day to fly in then 4 days at the airport then 2 days from the airport to me. I know its cheaper to buy from the US but the wait does you in.

Someone from ups called my bits are in customs at the moment. Then they can price them to be delivered to me by ups for tommorow hopefully. I just need to wait to get the bill from customs.

we had a ups 767 come into our hangar the other day after having a close shave with catastophic disater! the drains at the bottom of the fuselage were blocked, it started to fill up with water, the water froze which was around the cable run for the stabilisers... the pilots were yanking like fook to control the bloody thing :helpsmilie:

imagine if your pallet was on that and it found itself a new home at the bottom of the atlantic!

All sorted out after completing and faxing bits of paper about!.

I had to pay £182 to have UPS deliver it to my house otherwise I would have had to collect it from Heathrow. Also charged all sorts of other fees and costs from UPS for handling etc plus the normal VAT and import duties. Thing is its one hell of a big heavy crate 880lbs and 1.5 meters square so im happy paying the additional money to get it dumped on the end of my drive way. Unfortunately the lorry will not be able to get it down my long gravel drive so I will have to open it there and use a wheelbarrow to try and get it all into my garage.

Seems funny, I ordered this lot about 4 months ago and to be finally getting it all is quite exciting now.

I will post a load of pictures up tommorow if I get chance of it all.

All my stuff turned up tonight at 7pm a massive crate was dumped half on the road and half on my drive. We took it apart where it was and managed to move all the bits.

I have not had a good chance to have a look at all the stuff or open the boxes yet but the engine block looks lovely. But holy crows we have a lot of work to do now to get this car running. I would like to get it to at least one show this year and get it run in and on the dyno.

Can't wait for the next big thread then! :walkman:
