Hi,

I’m hopefully going to buy a 300zx that’s in amazing condition.

I’m just after some reassurance regarding the rust issue. I have been reading some threads regarding the common rust on the rear and although this car has none it has me wondering.

I know you only hear of the cars that have problems and no one ever posts, “my car has no rust”.

Please someone reassure me that a well looked after Z will not end up rusting.

Do these cars rust form the inside out, so a car can look great from the outside but be eating itself on the inside? This happened to a family members Trooper, we only found out about the rust when the mot guy put his hand through the inner rear arch!! We had had Susie over 16 years and she had had a hard life.

Thanks for the help and hopefully be a fellow owner soon.

Any car can rust and it depends on loads of different factors if you want the best possible then id get a jap spec as they never salt there roads and get as newer car as possible.

Good luck with the hunt

Thanks, the one i'm looking at is a late import, I think the post i was reading was an exception.

a late import should be good, the best thing you can do is to remove some trim and use a decent cavety wax like ditrinol or bolt humber- not waxoil

well mines a 93 jap and been pamped by me since hitting these shores nearly 7 years ago...never seen salt and has no rust whatsoever so they are out there mate, just need to have a good mooch to find em:yes:

OK....my car is a 93 J spec. It is completely rust free! And I mean completely!

Like Znut though, I have pampered my car since its import and it see no salty roads and very rarely a wet one...

Get a fresh J spec import or buy a really well loved example from a Forum member and it will be rust & rot free.
