I've done a search and can't find anything, although it must have been talked about before.

Basically I'm in the middle of converting my rear centre panel to an illuminated one and the rear lights to '99 spec appearance, and its all going perfectly so far. However, the centre panel is a bit 'fusty' after being on the car for 19 years, I was wondering if there is any way to clean it up?

One thought I had was with some REALLY fine wet and dry, then polish back up? Will this work without making it look worse? :saddam:

You can buy plastic polish - I think Halfords sell it actually... have a look on detailingworld too - should be loads of info on there. I've used brasso to remove marks in the speedo cover before and that did the job too, guess it depends how bad the marks are.

Its easy, get some 1200 paper on there, make it all matt then bring it back up with a good compound then a polish compound.....

oh thanks guys, I shall try the wet and dry tonight whilst watching the TV methinks :D

i used some polish that is used on aircraft windows and helmet visors. about £5 off ebay, they look like new now

Dont wet and dry, just machine with some G3 compound

did exactly this on mine, worked a treat!

A trick that plastic kit modellers use when polishing clear plastic is a little bit of toothpaste.

Thanks for the input guys - I had some G3 in the garage that my mate gave me ages ago - it only comes out on special occasions lol... within 5 minutes the whole centre panel has gone from being a murky ancient looking relic to looking brand new!

so thanks again, and a thumbs up to G3 compound to anyone who needs to do theirs! :D
