Otherwise this may happen ;-)

YIKES!

yeah its not fun when that happens, happen to me twice :( expensive stuff...... even my dba 2 peice disks ahve got tiny hairline cracks, not to worry tho as they are starting to fade now... im hoping the ducting will prevent this.....

Ok here we go.

heres where the ducting is directed, right into the centre cavity just behind the caliper, luckily there is enough room behind my 911 calipers to fit the 2.5 inch pipework i did have to make it oval though.

you can see ive had to cut some stainless pipe and shape it to direct the air, it also has a bracket welded to it and bolted to the back of the caliper relocation bracket with the extra thread that sticks out from using a oversized bolt....

Heres where the hose tucks close to the inside arch and then through to the front bumper under the smics.

Heres where the cold air feed starts :D

heres my old 2 inch hose with home made ducts which tbh is overkill with 2.5inch hose... plenty of air gets throgh.

Jimmy do you have the air guides that mount to the forward facing tie-rods as well? If not well worth getting from a scrapper. I have some on my 90 import and I swear it made a difference when I left them off for a while.

na i havent, i know what ya talking bout tho, hmmmmmm anyone got some spare?

Ive seen the tein ones which are actually alot bigger and probbaly more effective....

Tbh would be easy to make, maybe 2 jubilee clips with a stainless steel sheet of metal welded to them?

Got any pics jim, maybe i could fabricate 'em.

hmmm id have to look for them....

I can take a piccie of the ones on my ride - but I think I might get a bit wet right now ;-)

do it tomoz matey, if you like. I need a good venting system for my front brakes, keep warping my discs after heavy braking, 2 sets of front rotors in 1 year!!! Must be the old aluminium calipers cannot disapate the heat, unlike the cast iron ones. Not good.

or maybe its coz stock brakes are shite? what discs you buying?

I am running Z1 refurbed calipers, relocation brackets, EBC yellow pads and EBC 350Z brembo discs. I think the reason the discs are warping is the relocation brackets maybe a fraction out, i.e. the caliper is now "offset" to the disc, thus after some heavy, hot braking, the caliper "pulls" the disc out-of-line and it warps. Albeit, it only happens now and then?!?! (the steering wheel judder) Very strange.

I think i am gonna save some cash and go for the big brake set up and be done with it!!!!

hmmmm brackets might be too weak and when they get hot they flex? best to have a better caliper and very good disc.

The brackets look spot on!! Machined aluminium billet, nice tight fit and quite "chunky". 350Z brembo discs should hold up to hard braking, and they aint cheap!!

See if the bracket thickness is the same as the stock lug thickness, thats really how thick they should be....

i tried z1 discs, they cracked, i tried ebc discs, they cracked, now im using 328mm dba5000 two piece disks 600quids worth........ and performance friction pads which imo are the best pads ive ever bought...... been on track with this setup and didnt suffer at all with brake fade and thats thrashing it for ages bedford autodrome is a very harsh on the brakes il tell ya. oh the 911 calipers help alot too :D

I think i am gonna go for the "zcentre" D2 set up £799. Am a bit fed up with warping too many discs for £200 a pop. Looks good to me, what do you think jim?

Im not the person to ask, ive never used them, if you do go for that setup make sure you make a good cold air feed system, thats something i should have done ages ago, silly me.

If you can get the pics for the "tein braking airflow system" i can have a go and manufacture 'em for me and you buddy, but dont tell anyone else!!!! LOL

lol il have a look now..... shhhhhhhh

ok heres what the brackets look like, you just gota make a plate to direct the air towards the brakes, thats the best pic i could find

teintensionrodS14.jpg

aahhhh...... i see...... they are connected to the tension rods. Maybe i could manufacture them from precipitated aluminuim (heat treated in an oven at high tempurature for 12 hrs) the same, but with the lower part that is welded to the rod, slightly longer laterally, and use jubilee clamps to secure to the tension rods. What do you think?

no need to be heat ttreated, they wont come in contact with anything hot.

the rest sounds good.

The heat treatment will stop it flexing and bending, giving it a "like titanium" quality. The only thing i will need is approx. sizes. I need the height, width, hole pitch, etc... If you can get together some dimensions jim, i can get 'em fabricated by next week. (only rough dimensions buddy)
