Hi Guys,

Could anyone please give any suggestions on what make and type these lowering springs are, are they coil overs and therefore adjustable? or are they just lowering springs, what would they drop the car by?

Being from a swb would they also fit a lwb? does the kit look complete?

I`m in negotiation with Rigs who is selling them, but we are both unsure of their full use

Thanks for any help

Daz

not sure mate but im guessing you would need adjustable shocks to match the rest of the kit. lwb and swb suspension are identicle iirc. if your looking at coilovers i would recommend meisterR coilovers as the owner of the company does alot of research. http://www.meisterr.com/Site/MeisterR_Precision_Performance_Coilovers.html

here is there site. speak directly to jerrick and say you spoke to stu with the red zed @ ia motorsport and he should be able to do you a nice set of coilovers at a very very reasonable price.

Thanks for the info mate, I will certainly give them a call if these are no good for me. I assume you`ve got them on your car and happy with them?

Daz

sadly i had already purchased bc coilovers just before i met him but all my other purchased suspension parts are from him and the quality is second to none. i know many many cars fitted with his coilovers and have heard nothing but praise. he also looked at my coilovers and showed me his ones and showed how his are made to such a high standard. really do wish i did not buy the bc coilovers now as his are deffinately the better (if not best) option, however the bc ones arent too bad. he also runs the same spring rates as the ones i ordered. his knowledge is unbelievable and cant recommend him and his products enough.

what are his spring rates chap?

they where the recommended rates by dan @ dta and mine are on the mid setting between soft and hard and are perfectly comfortable in all situation but it still corners level. i could just turn the adjuster and it would be limo comfotable or turn it the other way and it would be rock solid and track ready. as i said previously, jerrick does an unbelievable amount of testing and research to make his products absoloutly perfect.

you need to take me for a spin in yours so i can feel the ride comfort and compare...

what time shall i expect you?

In answer to dazvert's question. These are adjustable coilover shafts, which sit on the stock shockers using rubber 'mushrooms' . They can drop the car by a lot but then the shockers won't be able to compensate for the drop and will probably bottom out - also there's no guarantee they will fit aftermarket shocks. Thankfully they are a cheap solution to adjustable ride height and you hear some people are quite happy with them. Some people wouldn't put them within 200 meters of their cars deeming them to be unsafe due to poor quality but hey, the same could be said for anything aftermarket :)

Those 'C-spanners' on the right of the photo adjust the locking collars which raise and lower the car mate :)

Daz just replaced a set of these with standard units as the zed they were fitted to failed the MOT for insecure road springs! as the lower collar just sits on the original shocks platform when the wheels are off the floor and the suspension is hanging the units are loose to move about. Have some pics of the issue will post them later will make more sense then.

i can see from an mot point of view its a failure, but im sure with the weight of the car on them there safe enough?

i had these a few years back before i got my coil overs. IMHO do not use these, at high speed the rebound shocks the car and makes it very unstable and difficault to control.

i wouldn't risk it, save your money and get a propper set up :)

suppose your right. i cut the springs on my first car (ford escort mk4), i 100% do NOT rekomend that either!!! :scared::scared: lol

its probably true on what they say, you get what you pay for...

I bought a set of these years ago and just by holding them in my hands, i decided that they werent getting near my car.

Binned!

as Jeff from zedworld said... he took them off my car! dont use them they are pants!

Parked on your drive they will look fine.:glare: however if you drive over a small crest/hump at any speed at all then virually all the weight comes off the suspension for a second. As they are unsecured that might allow the springs to unseat............

and you wont know till its too late.:helpsmilie:

Probably OK for our friends across the big pond who drive on smooth freeways at 55mph and dont have MOTs:yes:
