I am going to remove my bootcarpet to install the enclosure & sub which I bought from Craig http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=133111

I haven't used my Z in about 7 months as it is garaged and having lots of goodies bought for it.

So in saying that I haven't used it in a while, I had a quick look at the boot the other day and realised when I pushed the back seats forward, that the boot carpet is actually joined onto the back seats....

It has screw/clips in place and it looks as if it is stitched onto the back of the rear seats?.. Obviously it isn't possible to remove the carpet without ripping it from the back seats too?

Is this right?

Can anyone help me with any advice on this please?

Cheers

iirc it's held onto the back seats with plastic clips. If you drop the backseat down you can just pop them off. It's not sewn on to the seats so don't worry about that.

i just cut mine with a scissors at the bottom of the seat

Haha, that's what i'm actually trying to avoid TBH.

Yeah, I noticed the plastic clips and I 'gave it a little tug' and there was some velcro-ish stuff to the bottom left and the top looked as if it was held in by something more than just the clips.. but you could be right....

get soem pics up when you have it in mate, im jealous.lol!!

Why can you not leave it in place??

the mat should fit perfectly in place of the boot carpet. And the sub box enclosur sits below this, so to keep both inhe would need to cut a hole in his boot mat to fit if you know what im trying to say:wacko:

Could he not just fold the carpet back on its self so it goes where the spare tyre is

I suppose so. But then its just going to be tucked up underneath and might not give a nice flat finish to the new enclosure.

Is it not an mdf sheet??

yup, just incase it sits wonky with the mat under. easy to just remove it anyways i would say

its just held on with a series of plastic clips to the seat base, very straightforward to remove.

But if the back of the seat base will be on display, then removing the carpet leaves a very unsightly view, and your option there would be to either cut it as memtioned, or leave the carpet in place.

Okay, I'll have to have a think about this.. But it's going to be one of 2 options...

Either I buy another carpet to cut.. or get something made to match and cover the back of the seat... I am not cutting my existing pristine carpet lol... Anyone know of any LWBs with Boot carpets for sale..... CRAIG :)

- Thanks for the help guys!
