Just wondered who is still using there Zed in the snow?

ย

im to sceptical to even try as my other older RWD cars have always been a handful in it, and im getting wheel spin in 3th from a standstill in my other FWD car. Id dread to think what it would be like in a zed

ย

so that brings me to my next question. Apart from good quality tyres are there any handling mods that can give the zed superior grip in rain/snow etc? I been using playing with a little 1 series BM for a while and the handling and grip for such a basic car seems to be far better than my zed.

As said - if you're careful then you can drive a powerful RWD car in the snow. If you're careful. I have driven my SLK in the snow but it was pants - the traction control kept kicking and cutting all power; so the car wouldn't go anywhere. I switched it off and the wheels just spun as soon as I released the brake......

ย

.........I guess with an auto it's much harder - and then if you come to a steep hill good luck! Then this week every car (I said car BTW; not SUV) I saw failed to climb the hills into my village - leaving loads of people to abandon their rides and walk home!!

ย

I have been using our Rav-4 for the last week; it's far easier and one less thing to worry about! Plus I always made it home up those hills that scuppered "normal" cars:smartass:

anyone tried snow chains on a zed????????

ย

no need for chain as long as you have winter tyres on . we do get usually lot of snow here in middle europe and i drove z many times on snow and actually i preffer to drive rwd car on snow than fwd because you can brake with the lower gear and thats something that fwd car havent got unless you aplly hand brake .

anyone tried snow chains on a zed????????

I may be wrong - but I don't think you can use snow chains with very low profile tyres.........

ย

........I'm sure the owners' manual for my SLK has a bit about snow chains being fine for the model variants which have 16 inch rims but they must not be used on those with 17 or 18 inch wheels?
