Hi guys

My car runs perfectly, but 15 - 20 mins into the drive, especially if its a tiny bit damp the car judders when the accelerator is pressed, it seems like the wetter it is the worse it gets, the thing is, my filters are almost completely surrounded my a plastic cover although if you get under the car you can see a gap and see the air filters. Do you think that the water off the road is splashing up through that small gap and getting onto the airfilters, do you think the maf is damaged, it runs fine to start with.

It looks as though their are two mafs to each air filter but the loom is only going to one, is the other just a dummy maf or can it be swapped over?

Their is know way water is getting to the filters from on top as their is a perspex sheet covering them.

If there is only one MAF with wires coming out of it, then i'd say that the other one is a dummy.

just a shot it in the dark, but could it the PTU? it's very common if it is a bit dicky, to start to play up as it gets hot, exspansion and all that... just a thought pal...

Im not sure worth a look though thanks its a series 2 ptu which is apparantly better than the series 1

If I were to change the dualz back to a single cone, would it need to be remapped or would it be ok?

with the power you are running i would stick with doolz mate. it is very likely to either be a dodgey maf or just wet maf. more than likely youll be needing a new maf though. annoyingly they do seem to just go wrong :(

If you went back to a single inlet you would have to change the mapping, not a problem if you have a socket in the ecu.

Your ECU is socketed, but the map you have is set up for doolz twin pop.

If you want to convert back to a single intke then you will need a remap as at present it's reading from your passenger side maf and duplicating the values.

Your drivers side maf is an actual maf but acting as a dummy. I'm not sure if it is a working maf though. So your best bet is to borrow a working maf from someone and swap it out with your passenger maf. If it fixes the problem then you need to replace your current maf as it appears to have developed a fault. (plug the conzult in next time it starts to do this and see if you get an error from it).

If it still does it with the borrowed maf then you will need to get yourself splashguarded up as previously mentioned. Maf + any kind of Moisture = bad running.

I also have doolz with apexi filters. I had a similar problem that the car juddered when cruising. No problem if the weather was nice. Tried the air filter cover that I bought from ebay(no luck). Installed a second MAF and SAFCII. The car ran better nut not perfect. I then Installed the original plactic cover under the filters. Works perfectly now.

Check that the filters are dry after driving in the wet. If they are dry then move on...

Test the MAF or swap with one that you know is working.

If the maf is fine, then try to cover up the filters some more. You could cover up the front and take the car for a quick spin and see if that helps. (just watch the water and oil temp when you cover the front up and don't drive too hard or long)

Cheers, filters are covered up more or less, could it be coilpack failure, ive read that it would be fine when cold but when warmed up it can run rough and give the same symptoms as what im experiencing, I would check them but car wont start due to immobiliser problem. If I needed to change coilpacks, would i have to remove the plennum? How much are they and wheres the best place to get them from?

If you have wet MAF, then it would run lumpy from the start and won't run much over 3500rpm.

If it's coil packs then it could cause lumpy idle. You have bran new coil pack connectors and a series 2 PTU on there. Coil pack problems would show up on the conzult.

Plug the conzult in and take it for a spin and see if you can replicate the problem. Then see what conzult says.

Found the problem, it was a bad wire in the small fuse box thing under the bonnet drivers side, its been fixed and I no longer get any juddering, my alarm/ immobiliser is fine, its running fantastic at the moment
