After trying various things to solve the over heating including, water wetter, bigger rad, 2nd fan, manifold lagging and heat deflector the car still ran to hot. Think I have now solved it with these two things, not what I wanted to do but I'd rather this than cooking the engine! What do you think?

as well as the two vents is the bonnet hinge set higher? I can see this letting heat escape from engine bay but how would it stop engine from over heating?

Bonnet is 1 inch higher, between that and the vents alot of hot air can now escape. The car can idle for hours with the bonnet up and fans running but not overheat, when it was down it overheated. This set up allows alot more air to escape rather than staying under the bonnet and heating everything up.
